Wondrous news

Posted by pegasus on August 12, 2004, at 14:09:28

OK, remember how a couple of months ago I was moaning on here about how I was never going to be a mom . . . well . . . you guessed it . . . I'm pregnant!

I'm so surprised and happy and terrified! I don't know what to do with myself! I honestly thought it was never going to happen to me, because of my various health problems. But they did the blood test yesterday, and apparently my hormone levels are fabulous, and they said this is definitely a "solid pregnancy."

So, now here I am, 10 days away from my therapist's return, terrified and thrilled and really needing to talk to her.

If it seems as though I've not been participating fully in recent days, you can understand that I've been a bit preoccupied. I'll get back in the game here soon when I get used to the idea and can lift my attention from my personal, radical paradigm shift.

That's fabulous!!! Congratulations! (nm) » pegasus

Happy Birthday To You!!!

Ok, there is a fabulous book about journaling through your pregnancy...all the changes, what you are thinking, etc. Maybe Babble could be your baby journal? It would be great fun.

I highly recomend ginger snaps and wrist bands for morning sickness. And water exercises.

I'm so excited. I'm taking liberty here -- I want to be designated a Babble-Auntie!

Congrat's. BIG SMILES.

And remember to tell your husband that full body massages and catering to cravings are *very* important during a woman's pregnancy ;0

Hi B2c,

Good questions. I honestly hadn't even considered meds until you posted. That's how much I've been thrown by this happy news.

I've been meaning to see a new psychiatrist anyway, recommended by my new T. I never cared much for the old one. So I think this will be a good time to try the new one, and explain my whole med situation and make a plan. I know that ideally I'd go off my AD, but I'm afraid that will lead to more deep depression, and that can't be good for the baby either. So I think I'll stay on my current dose until I can get an appt (hopefully soon). At least I had already ramped down to a lower dose recently.

And then I need to think about my thyroid meds too. I guess I need to make another appt. there. Gee, I sound like a total dimwit, but I'm glad you're kick starting me to think of these things.

My due date is April 18. What a lovely spring date! I think it's the perfect day to give birth!

Thanks for your questions and your support!

((B2c))

Oh, you're all babble aunties! That's such a sweet thought. I can't tell you how much all of this support has meant to me. I was pretty much reduced to (ecstatic) mush for a couple of days by the news, and it's great to have been able to tell you about it.

And thanks for the tips about morning sickness and water exercise. I'll have to look into my exercise options around here. I was thinking also that a prenatal yoga class might be good.

I would love to have a babble pregnancy journal! I'll think about how best to do that. I'm afriad that not everyone will want to be faced by my pregnancy blather on a regular basis. But the bonus there is that y'all will be able to help me remember what was going on earlier, as my pregnancy brain turns to oatmeal (I'm told to expect that).

many hugs

Ah, yes. He seems to be ready for many such requests from me. He has agreed to see a prenatal massage therapist (we actually know one) to learn how to massage me when I get really big.

We also found a book yesterday called "Nurturing the Unborn Child" that gives us lots of exercises to do during pregnancy. The first one is that he has to record his voice walking me through a progressive deep relaxation for 20 minutes (the book gives him the words to use). I'm supposed to do the relaxation every day if possible. I love that every exercise involves him, too.

Should we call you pregasus now? ;)

Thx for helping me celebrate everyone!

Dang it, I really had written a post thanking everyone before I wrote all of my other replies. What happened to that? It's like there's a little babble gremlin around here somewhere.

Anyway, I wanted to let you all know how much it means to me that you are all so excited and happy for me. I haven't told many people IRL, just in case something goes wrong later. So it's been just wonderful to be able to celebrate with my babble friends. I don't know what I would have done without you.

I'm starting to integrate the idea of being a mom into my everyday life, instead of just being paralyzed by the news. So hopefully I'll be back babbling on a regular basis soon.

Oh my, and here I thought I was teasing. You have a real gem, but I guess you don't need me to tell you that. Cheers!
