Changing the subject~ ~ ~

Posted by fayeroe on July 30, 2004, at 9:18:45

A top ten of musicians could be in order today?
1. Joan Armatrading
2. Van Morrison
3. Bob Dylan
4. Nirvana
5. Eddie Vedder's group?
6. Ray Charles
7. Willie Nelson/Waylon Jennings/Leon Russell
8. Norah Jones
9. The McGarrigle Sisters, Kate and Anna
10.J.J. Cale
11.Elton John, Johnny Cash, The Nashville Bluegrass Band
Okay, ten won't do it...and these aren't in any particular order of preference. I'm a music slut, so it's hard to pick out one particular person who rocks my boat more than another.

It's hard to narrow it down to top ten:

1) Bob Dylan
2) The Kinks
3) Dixie Chicks (because of fond memories of the 'niece' and 'nephew)
4) Joan Baez
I'm starting to show age here.....
5) Kinky Friedman
Kinky for governor!! http://www.kinkyfriedman.com/nytarticle.html
6) Arlo Guthrie - I like the way he thinks.
7) Nanci Griffith (more fond memories of the kiddos)
8) Zappa
9) The dead
10) Roy Orbison

and I'm sure I left someone out....

my sense of sisterhood has just grown by leaps and bounds..seeing that you all love music so much, that ten isn't enough makes my heart sing. i would be dead without music. my first marriage was like this: i was only allowed to listen to country music. so, i sneaked in some j.j. cale, elton john and joe cocker....set me free. got a divorce, married someone else, went to see bob dylan and that's the rest of the story....i can hardly wait til september 3, seeing him and willie together will be absolutely, positively mind-blowing! and look how many of us love Van The Man!! i was in San Francisco one time and my photography mentor asked me what i did that day...i lied and told him that i had walked the streets of the little town where Van lives hoping that i'd see him. he believed me for years and years. i think it took away a little of my magic when i told him the truth! :-) rock on, sisters, rock on!!! you all named people that i love. i just couldn't limit it to ten! p.s. my dog and i did walk across the Golden Gate Bridge, just because its there....Tippy was one traveling dog!
