Rev. Al Sharpton!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by fayeroe on July 28, 2004, at 21:04:37

Oh my Lordy!! I just saw a clip of his speech at the Democratic convention.........It was great. He said that the blacks were promised 40 acres and a mule by Lincoln.........they never did get either one, so they just decided to ride the Democratic donkey as far as they could!!!

YES! And other parts of his speech gave me chills. I especially liked his statement that his right to vote was bathed in the blood of the Mississipi civil rights workers who were killed and that this vote was NOT for sale!

Very powerful speech. I don't always like Rev. Sharpton's tactics, but I love listening to him speak. And he makes a lot of sense.

You know, I think he's really toned himself down and is making a very good effort to get his message out. I admire that in him. AND WHEN HE DID HIS JAMES BROWN IMPERSONATION ON SNL, I KNEW THAT HE ROCKED!!! P.S. I have my bumper sticker, at eye level on tailgate, that says "mission accomplished..then mission is crossed out and "nothing" is inserted.....defeat Bush. I want the one that says "A Texas Ranch is missing their Ass".....I agree with you, however anyone wants to vote and campaign.....get out and do it!!!

Some village is missing it's idiot!

I love it! Can't bear to put a bumper sticker on my new car. So I bought the car flag. Now, if only it would get here...

That some of you are from states other than Texas! I plan to vote on the off chance that it'll make a difference, but I'd like to feel the 'swing' states are leaning this way.

Yeah, I love the guy. But I have to admit that hearing his speech on NPR scared me. Not the content, just all of the yelling. I guess I don't handle yelling all that well. I had to tell hubby to "make it stop". But then I read the speech on the internet later. :)

At times like this I wish I still lived in Ohio. I always felt so important voting there. My vote counts for squat in my current politically conservative state. But I wouldn't miss the chance to vote for anything. Even if my folks don't win, at least I'm adding to the numbers of the dissenting vote, for future reference.

I also was discouraged when I lived on the west coast, because often the presidential race was already determined before I got to the polls. But I never missed a chance to vote. I'm proud to be counted, whatever way it goes!

You never can tell, there are alot of people here (TX) who hate being associated with him just because he's from here. He's given Texans a bad name, and they just might decide to put him in his place for that.

Didn't he just barely win in Texas last time or is that wishful thinking?

I think it's wishful thinking. People here thought he was a really good governor. I've even had people outside tell me they heard he was good.

Too bad no one realizes just how little power the governor has. Almost nil.

I can only hope some have changed their minds

Careful there. The last folks who said that got kicked off the radio all over the country. Of course I think I heard something about their album sales going up........ :)
