A 10 for Friday

Posted by Scott in Vermont on June 18, 2004, at 14:24:28

After reading the above post about the hostage, I figured I'd make use of my "up" and try to share a bit of the positive of it with everyone else and provoke some thinking about the good things we have.

So here's my 10 for the last week:

1) I get to see my kids all weekend!

2) I didn't get stomped in court on Tuesday.

3) My bi-annual review went pretty well all things considered.

4) My friend Jon has come to dinner 4 times this week.

5) It's my sister's 33rd birthday tomorrow and the party is at my house.

6) Catherine (my girlfriend) has only one week left before she starts her new job!

7) I didn't quit earlier this week when I crashed.

8) I'm feeling a lot better right now. I'll take a raging "up" over a crushing "down".

9) I paid ALL of my bills this week!

10) I've developed some very nice online friendships with some Babblers. This place could sell membership. I'd pay. :)

Yeah, right. I'm taking a Babble break - NOT.

1. I felt normal for a day and a half this week. Not depressed, not manic. Normal. What a fabulous gift.
2. My EMDR treatment seems the *perfect* adjunct to my meds and T.
3. I joined a gym. Even though I have to keep a towel handy for my attractively copious sweating, at least it's an all-women gym and I don't gross them out too much.
4. I can read more than headlines. I'm halfway through a new book.
5. I went grocery shopping this week.
6. I started to unclutter my home.
7. My new car makes little boys in Cameros try to race me.
8. My husband noticed I seem better.
9. Sandy Web is safe and we know this because of LynneDa, a very special Babbler.
10. jyl is my friend, and she's reading us but needs our support and lots of energy sent her way. ZAP! ZAP! ZAP!

10. kid's on a safari and promised to bring me back a zebra (not a pony mind you, but possibly better!!! those stripes are very nice and the colors!)

9. all done finally turned 234 this year. i was expecting her to try and say that she was only 25 (in her dreams) but she admitted that she's old and slow.

8. scott's feeling up instead of down. hip hip hooray!

7. i heard from emmy recently and she's not letting her knee recover properly, as suggested by the doctor in the white go go boots. now, i'd usually say going against doctor's orders is a bad thing, but if emmy's on her knees, it's always a good sign.

6. racer's hanging in there. i'm glad she's so strong and wonderful.

5. kelly's still here. and she's not only surviving, but also succeeding at this thing called life.

4. daisy's marriage is now old enough to drink! YAHOOOOO!! daisy, perhaps me, you nad your marriage can get a round of whiskey sours?

3. zen's a wonderful, inspiring and amazing person! thank you zen for being so supportive and inspiring.

2. jai got a beautiful new play thing. a fish is a wonderful pet and i'm sure she'll make that fish feel right at home, so they can both enjoy eachother.

1. spoc spoc spoc! enough said! (the name alone says it all)

I haven't done this in awhile......And I was once told that your blessings don't count unless you count your blessings so......

10. It's Friday!

9. I have more to do at work so my days will not drag.

8. I talked to my stepmom this week. It made me sad and miss my papa but I feel good about keeping in touch with her.

7. My babies (Kiki, Lucy, Skyler) are healthy and love their mommy unconditionally.

6. My coworker got a wonderful offer for another job. It is a loss for us but it is really wonderful for her.

5. Psychobabble exists and provides for great comfort, laughter, companionship, and inspiration.

4. It is a beautiful day and I went for a walk with Melissa and Vanessa at lunch.

3. I am getting my settlement check from my (soon to be) ex hubby for my share of equity in the house

2. I am meeting the love of my life's family this weekend. His borother invited me to come to Father's day celebration for which I am grateful since I have been dreading that day. I am really nervous but I believe things will be fine.

1. I am loved by the most incredible man!

I'm not sure I can do it.
1. I'm still breathing.
2. my toenail polish has held up all week
3. it's the weekend. I can cry without worrying about puffy eyes the next day.
4. had a nice lunch with coworkers, not the usual crowd of young boys that's always kinda alienating.
5. going to a baseball game monday
6. my plants that I bought for the yard but haven't planted all week are still alive.
7. no matter how lonely I get, there are always inappropriate men who want to date me (OK maybe this goes on my anti-10 list.)
7. (trying again) I'm sleeping pretty well this week.
8. the paralyzing grief has lowered my appetite, so I'm sure to lose a few pounds. (wait, that's also for my anti-10 list).
8. (trying again). there's some yogurt and fruit in the fridge
9. babblers & other online buddies
10. my bed.

I'm gonna re-do 3 too...
3. It's the weekend. 2 days to take care of me.

After considering the benefits (great information, incredibly supportive people, and abstract photos of Dr. Bob) I think this site could sell memberships for $5.95 a month (I used that number based on numerous factors, such as member ability to pay, number of members, and the possibility that higher membership fees could drive away current members and deter future ones).

Of course, my answer isn't binding... and I expect a few rocks to be thrown at me for opening this can of worms in the first place.

i think any kind of fee will prevent someone who really needs to vent, chat, share, cry for help....at times i did not think my life was worth 5.95...
as wonderful as this site is i will not pay...
my 2 cents

I think Dr. Bob asked more out of humor than anything else. Perhaps I should have come back with something witty.

(ducks another rock)

I just pictured Lucy from the Peanuts strip with her 5 cents sign. My rocks are figurative, I assure you.

Oh I get it now!!!!! But I'm not in Open.

Oh dear, gg. I never meant to imply you were only worth $5.95/month. Just a silly reference to Scott's post here. We all know you will deserve to be the highest paid T on the block.

But since I'm already in the process of working out payment arrangements with my current T, perhaps I can pay you in baked goods? ;) I'm getting really good at the baking thing, you know.
