Yes, my kitty's the light of my life. Last night I put a fleece vest on the couch for him to cuddle up on, and he immediately curled up on it and stayed there till this morning. He's adorable (and he never scratches or bites).I love dogs, too.

I do like it when my cat sleeps in one spot all night. She has an amazing ability to sleep for long periods. I admire that.

he's all black and very handsome and really little right now (because he's dying :( ).i find almost everything he does adorable. i love it when he cleans his face. and when he curls up in a little ball with his head tucked under his paw. and when he lies on my chest and purrs and sometimes his tongue sticks out when he's purring and he looks really silly.

I'm so sorry about your kitty. Do you think you could maybe get a kitten, and they could get to know each other for a while? That helped me alot.
My kitty, Christina, used to fight with Sparky, who lived in my parents house, next door to where I was living. Sparky arrived when my first cat, Tiger, was fairly young. Tiger used to pin Sparky to the floor and wash him. I kind of like the connection that my cat has to my first. Cats rule.Tiger died at 21 years old in about 1987, Sparky died a few years ago, but Christina still stays with me. She sleeps on my bed, sometimes right near my head, and sometimes near my feet. I love waking up with her there.

I have four cats, Mikee, Timmee, Amsu and Pearlcat. All are "foundlings".....they found me and said "here I am".......Amsu is probably 16 or so. The others are young and Amsu has a pretty good relationship with all of them. Pearlcat stays under the sofa a lot. She's very shy but extremely loving towards me. Fayeroe, my dog, is really good with all of them. Teddy Jack is not so nice as he growls if they get too close to him. I can come home in any mood and everyone is glad to see me. Mikee sleeps in my crockpot and it is so sweet to see him "spidering" me from atop the refrigerator. Timmee is his brother (found them at the dump) and he is big and fat and Mikee is sleek and svelte. Different dads!
On a different note entirely, tomorrow is the one million women's march in Washington, D.C. I'm there in spirit!!!!

Poor baby, and poor Crushed. I'm so sorry about your kitty. I'm going through it with my Harry right now too. But he's doing better for longer than anyone expected. Although he's thin enough to sort of crackle when I pick him up. :(
I've got high hopes for him though.
Harry had a really bad cancer of the spleen removed in September. Highly undifferentiated, high chance that it metastasized. But he really hasn't declined any since January or so.

My kitty, while very docile, tolerant, and sweet, has a strong preference for being the only nonhuman animal in the house (not counting mousies and bugs). He's very unmean but he finds the company of other kitties (and dogs, too) highly distasteful. I wouldn't want to do it to him, especially in his old, sickly age.But I'm sure I will have to get a kitten for myself someday when I'm through mourning him (and enjoying not being tied down for awhile).

Poor Dinah and Harry. I'm glad Harry's doing better though. My kitty was diagnosed with kidney failure when he was 6 (he's almost 11 now) and I've been giving him subcutaneous fluids ever since, which has kept him really healthy until recently. In fact, he was fat (very unusual for a kidney diseased cat): 14 pounds! until about 6 months ago when he stopped eating very much. Now he's less than 8 pounds, poor little guy. :(But I got him some sushi yesterday and he's been loving it. Plus, he's got the fleece vest. And I cuddle with him every chance I get. :)

Sorry to hear that your kitty is dying. My neighbor just had to put one of her kitties down. He was so skinny, very sad.
I love my orange tabby, Jules. Best napping partner in the world.

Hey, me too! My kitty has been on subcu fluids for about 5 years. She apparently has very little kidney functioning. But she's 17 y.o. this year! She's also playful as a kitten. And while she only weighs about 5 lbs., her maximum lifetime weight was only about 7, so she's always been tiny. The vet always warns us that when her time is up she might go very quickly. But she's having a great life in the meantime, and I'm so glad the fluids are keeping her relatively healthy.
I hope your kitty hangs on and has a good life for a while longer! They add so much, don't they. I just love my kitty up.

17! Wow, that's amazing. Maybe my kitty can live longer than I thought. The vet told me he was in final stages of renal failure now, though, after being in great shape since I started the fluids.How does your kitty handle getting the fluids? Mine is so cute. He doesn't really like it, but he tucks his head under my armpit and complains hardly at all.
They are really special little creatures.

Wow. I'm so impressed. I thought it was unusual when we had to give one of my dogs an subcutaneous drip for the last months of her life because her kidneys weren't functioning due to heart failure. The heart eventually got her, but while she didn't *like* the drip, she forgot it as soon as we let her down and danced around like a pup.
I'm impressed that you all can keep it up for years though.

It's kind of become a bonding ritual for me and my kitty. He's snuggled against my chest while I'm doing it, and I think we both like it (or maybe only I do).

Hmmm. Well, my cat and I do not bond over the fluids. Basically she hides under the bed when she hears me getting things out, and I have to pull her out, then my husband has to hold her while I put the needle in. Otherwise she'll bolt. Or slash me. Although, lately, she seems to be resigning herself to the whole process, and not hiding under the bed. I've also been able to do it myself at times (but not reliably).
None of us enjoy this, but it's probably given her a few extra happy years, so it's worth it! The fluids obviously make her feel a lot better. I don't know if *she* makes the connection, but we can tell when we've skipped a day or two in how she behaves and looks.

When I first started doing it, it was really hard and I needed two people, but now I've perfected doing it alone. My kitty is very cooperative for a kitty so that might be part of why I can do this, but if you want I can try to describe my method. It took me a long time to figure it out.My kitty hides under the bed if he sees me getting the fluids ready also. So I just have them always set up, and I change the needle immediately after doing it so it's ready for the next time. That way I can just snatch him as he walks by when it's time. But once I've got the needle in him, he barely struggles (this is partly due to my method, and partly I think it makes him feel better so he almost doesn't mind, but I'm not sure).

My mom used to have to do this with her little miniature Yorkie. She would sit very still, but curl her lip up as if she were ready to snarl. (the dog, not my mom :) But she would take it. Poor thing. I think my mom really misses her, but right now she can't deal with a pet due to her own physical disability (getting a hip replacement soon, thought!!!!)

I'm sorry your kitty is not well.
I have three kitties. They keep me alive.
One of my kitties, Spodumene (age 14) scared me late last year because he presented with diabetes. I was giving insulin. Then they did a biopsy and found intestinal cancer in early stages. The biopsy also found helicobacter bacteria. With antibiotics, the helicobacter went away, and so did the diabetes!! I am so happy not to have to do blood glucose tests two or three times a day. Now I only give him his cancer med every other day. He is acting like a kitten again, running around, wanting my other two kitties to chase him around the house.
I don't think I would be here without my three beloved cats: Spodumene, Rosebud, and Ophelia. They are my true friends. They are always by my side when times are bad. They know everything about me...more than any stupid human could know.

Yeah, kitties are great. Mine's doing a lot better. I think he won't die that soon with our new, more aggressive approach to his illness.I bought him a present recently: an electric water fountain for kitties! He adores it. I wish I'd gotten for him sooner. He especially needs it with his kidney disease.
I'm glad your kitty's diabetes went away. That sounds like a real drag. I love when they act like kittens.

When I come home after work, my cats all greet me and I tell them about my day. Then I let them in the front ofo the house and they romp and rattle around for a couple of hours! Then when I go to bed, they all settle in with me. They all have their favourite place on the bed and they make room for Fayeroe. I would be so lonely if I didn't have animals here with me.
