Yum! I had some spumoni gelato. But I still fully intend to have that 3-scoop banana split before the day is up.

You made real whipped cream just for me! I had hot fudge and pecans and three cherries, one for each scoop of ice cream.

I'm tooting my party horn right now.

More ice cream!

Happy, happy day.

Complete with a single scoop of mint chip. I decided to skip the fudge sauce so that I have a hope of staying awake for the party.

I love mint chocolate. But chocolate sauce puts you to sleep? I thought chocolate was a stimulant.

boy I sure have a lot of ice cream leftover. and what a trampled mess, what with the streamers and broken bits of balloon and chocolate sauce ground into the rug. You all sure know how to dance. My neighbors are probably sick of hearing all those Abba tunes. who brought that CD anyway?

hey wait the party's not over yet!

Just didn't feel right not having one, so I went to the store and got vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry haagendass, chocolate sauce, butterscotch sauce, crushed pineapple, chopped pecans, whipped cream, bananas, and cherries. Brought it home and created a modest banana split (used only 3 half-scoops instead of 3 scoops). Wow! It was so good. Overwhelming. I feel like my heart's going to explode. Haven't eaten so much sugar in months.

Now what do I do with those leftovers? The ice cream will run out much faster than all the toppings. Some day in September when I've run out of groceries I'll be eating a peanut butter and butterscotch sauce sandwich with sliced maraschino cherries.

So with all the leftovers, somehow I ended up having another serving tonight. What a symphony of flavors! Magnifico! You know, I had doubts about the pineapple (I actually followed a recipe for this) but it really adds something. Jai, you've got to rush to the store and buy all the makings. Besides the taste treat, 2 men in line tried to invite themselves over to join me. And one was actually cute.

The trouble is I'm lactose intolerant and starting to bloat. I've tried those lactaid pills but they do nothing. Either the whipped cream or the ice cream is too much for me. I'd better take a few days off.

some of the lactose free "ice creams" are really pretty good. I had to forego lactose when I was nursing my children (they got really colicky if I had ANY dairy products). Back in 1983 there weren't very many choices, and the choices that existed were not "delectable". But I did a short (mistaken) stint lactose free about 3 years ago, and I was amazed at how much better the selection and quality had gotten. I must admit, though, that I've never searched out lactose-free whipped cream - I wonder if some of the really fake squirty stuff is lactose free...

Better living through ice cream (or "ice cream").

> I wonder if some of the really fake squirty stuff is lactose free...

they do call the squirty stuff "an edible oil product" ... and i think it might even be petroleum-based (gack!)

happy squirting (that should stop the drool problem cold)

I guess theoretically one could buy lactaid whipping cream, if there is such a thing, and whip it with a mixer. I drink the lactaid milk just fine. Or.... you could buy regular whipping cream, and add the lactase drops from the health food store, and wait a day for the lactose to get digested, then whip.

I just figured, since I'm blowing my diet, ought to not worry about such details as lactose bloat. Actually it's good there's a limiting factor in how much of the stuff I can eat :-)

P.S. I did not get fake oil product in a can, I got real whipped cream in a can. I do have some standards...
