Trucker Tag - you're it!

Hey, the first time Dr. Bob redirected us, it was because of one of my messages and I didn't understand it at all, and he sent us to a new thread with only one post on it, and I didn't know how to find anyone - I felt like I had been left on an island all by myself.

I had just gotten the nerve to start posting, and was so happy to have found so many caring people. I thought I had lost them for good, and I cried myself to sleep that night. Took me several hours the next evening to finally figure out how this site works.

So, anyway . . . you have pneumonia?? Bummer! What is Z Pak antibiotics?

Have you leveled out on the Lex again, since you went back up to 20mg?

Mystic,
I had thought that I had gained weight from lexapro. I really think its more that when I was super anxious I was not eating so I dropped down to like 119 but now I am actually enjoying eating again. So I have been eating a lot and have but on about six lbs. I now have realized and started working out and eating better( I mean, I was like cinnabun queen)The weight seems to be coming off ok. For me it was a lot easier to blame weight gain on Lex then myself =)
Getting back to a size 2

Maybe I mis-led you - - I just meant he redirected our messages. He took some of them off the other site and planted them here on this site - inside his post today:~)

If I'm confusing you more, then whatever - - at least you found us! You can still post at the other place, so long as you keep it about meds.

thanks Lynne, thats very sweet of you to say so. Its just that his mom was very close to his ex and i can tell she is having issues about getting close to me, my bf however told me she will come around. His dad on the other hand is great with me, we talk about books and movies and its easygoing. i am just worried that his mom will never come around...i want her to like me but i dont want to seem too eager you know? oh well, thanks for the post though, you are very kind.

I hope your week is going well too, how are things with ya anyway?

Hey Jlynne, :) i am doing alright, i went to the docs today to get a refill on my priscription and told him i wanted to up to 10mg. He said ok and so as of Monday i will start at 10mg...im really nervous but i know i need to.

Tonite my aunt had heart surgery(for a murmer) and apparently she was bleeding and her BP was over 200, but she kept saying no to the drugs so they didnt let her go. i had to take the day off tomorrow to go with my mom to TOronto, thats where the hospital is, we are going to stay there all day with her and hopefully we can take her home tomorrow evening.

So how are you doing? when you increased was it an obvious change from the lower dose? im just scared of all the s/e's again...ESP THE ANXIETY/PANIC, considering thats whats making me want to increase it seems silly that it makes it worse at first, but *sigh* its nessessaty.

Hope u have a great night and i hope your day goes well tomorrow, im still looking for those Jersey sheets;) maybe i will get some for my b-day:)..;) you never know.

Night, and sweet dreams

Magdalena

im sorry you are feeling bad Mystic its really weird you know i go through phases where i think i am underweight then the next week i think i am a few pound too much, but lately i have gained a few pounds just like 2 or 3 but i feel i look fine, its like im not as concerned as before, but you never know in a few months....i also just started the bc pills and there is weight gain with that too so i dont know what to expect, im not tall at all so i hope i dont gain too much.(I'm 5'2)

hope u feel better, sometimes going for a walk helps esp if you get to meet people, sounds weird but it makes me feel better sometimes.:) [quick story, i met this old man today at the clinic and he was alone and talking to himself so i sat and talked with him for 20 minutes and it made my day, he was so sweet and he had old man humour, it was great]

anyway have a good sleep and i will catch up with all of you tomorrow.

Night

[did i tell you i got the sheets at Wal Mart? - - they're even softer if you rinse them in Downy!]

About my increase . . . the side effects were getting to be tolerable for me before I increased, but they came back after I went up. That was a couple weeks ago, and they are just now starting to get better again. I think, for me, the increase was pretty much the same as the beginning - it was kind of like starting over for me.

Your medicine is so different from mine, though, and how our bodies react is an individual thing. Trust your instincts and what you have already experienced on Paxil, so far. You will get through it, and in the end you will feel better. We all have to be patient for the meds to build up and do their thing.

I hope your aunt is ok. I will say a prayer for her tonight.

It has been good for me to get back to work. I work with the elderly, and I love what I do; it makes me feel like my life is worthwhile:~) And my co-workers are the best; my supervisor is like a big sister to me.

Which reminds me - I need to go to bed. I have a meeting first thing in the a.m.

Nighty-night:~) [more likely "good morning" by the time you read this!]

Hi Mystic -
I'm sorry to hear your not feeling so hot. The old monthly can really bring you down, try to remember you'll feel better in a few days. I also think JLynne is right - you've been gearing up for the shower for so long, it's like this big let-down happens afterward. Are there any other projects on your horizon you can plan for? If not, just let yourself ride out this wave and know you will feel better soon. I've been 3 months on the 20 mg. and I really think it's taken this long before I can look back over the past couple of weeks and realize I've had more up times than down!!! I know what you mean about feeling outside your body, I still get like that from time to time, especially when I'm really tired and stressed.

Hang in there sister & take good care of yourself! :-)

In reply to RE:: Hey Lynne, posted by mystic on March 30, 2004, at 19:16:43

Mystic, Lexy and everyone:
I am just not sure about the whole weight gain thing. I've always been underweight, luckily - it's my genes. But then, I've never been 40 before either! I got married in July 2002, was at 128 (I'm 5'7"). Started Lex October 2003, was at about 130 - 133 (the myth is getting married makes you gain weight& it was true with me!). Went on 20 mg in Dec 2003 and am now hovering around 145 to 148. I've never weighed more than 140 in my life! It seems awfully unusual that I would gain 10+ lbs. in that short of time.

So, go figure . . . is it being happily married finally (probably not, my husband was laid off, in grad school full time and still can't find a good job - we still have stresses). Is it that I'm cooking more since I have a family of 5? Maybe, but I only cook about 2 or 3 real meals a week & I'm busier than ever. I don't eat more or less junk, hardly ever eat fast food.

My conclusion after consulting with a couple of other threads on this site: SSRIs do effect metabolism and/or the "I'm full" signal, just as they are suppressing other things in our brain's chemistry. They do increase certain chemicals in your body that can cause fat cells to stick around more persistently. It has something to do with cortisol and the adrenal glands. Maybe it's thyroid related.

Sorry this was so long, but weight gain can be depressing and can make one feel tired too, so it's an important thing to watch when battling depression. Exercise and good diet aside, it is harder to take weight off when on an SSRI, I believe! But, it's not yet enough of a problem that I would trade weight loss for my sanity. My husband actually agrees with me there, surprisingly enough :-).

The main thing is, if you know it, you can guard against it - I didn't realize it could happen so didn't work as hard to combat it. Now I will - treadmill's been great!
~ Lynne
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Hey Lynne do you think that the weight gain is from your meds???...do you think the more you increased the more weight you gained and the harder it is to get off??..has anyone been having any weights issues???...I feel like poop tonight not sure just really foggy this really stinks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...Mystic
