For those of us that deal with, 'get over it'...

...types at home or in friendships. For the guys that hear, 'be a man, whimp.' For the ladies that hear, 'It's all in your head,' etc. ad nauseum.

This site is great. When I used to watch football in the days of yore, I was, being from Texas-a Cowboys fan. I loved the Landry years for the most part.
I hated the Steelers because Bradshaw was just too good. Down 5 points, ball on his own one yard line, 23 seconds on the clock, Bradshaw would engineer a drive that would just blow everyone away. Any football fan knows Bradshaw was one of the best ever.
I love the guy now that he is off the field. After reading the following, I love him like a brother: http://www.terryandricky.com/terry.html

I hope this site is useful to someone. I'm very proud of celebs that cop to their illnesses.
I hope someday to shake Mr. Bradshaws' hand.

Peace

Thanks, Phil - I didn't know that about Bradshaw. It is always strangely gratifying to know that celebs suffer with this also, and are occasionally driven to let the rest of the world know about it too.

Also, welcome back. (-:

It is wonderful when someone in the spotlight comes forward. The thing is, the more people allow mental illness to be a taboo, the more depression, anxiety and social disorders are going to overtake the population. It's already happening. I am so glad when anyone takes depression seriously and doesn't chalk it up to a matter of will or mental strength.

WOW! Phil, thank you. I didn't know that Terry Bradshaw suffered from depression. I have to go read the website. Thanks.

I shared this with my 12 year old son who suffers from anxiety and spent the last year in therapy, biofeedback and went on paxil. He was impressed and amazed.

Thank you for sharing. You helped a young boy more than you know.
Daisy

He *is* the biggest cowboy fan you ever met...he still refuses to acknowledge Emmett in any jersey but the blue and white!

Phil,
I'm glad you're back. Not just because it's what you think is good for you, but also because I truly missed your sense of humor.

Thanks for the post. Not just beause you started it, but also because it's nice to hear that we aren't alone. And it's nice to hear that we can't just shake it off...

Thanks for it.

Thanks so much Phil. I'm going to send that to my brother. He's a huge fan, and a lifelong sufferer of severe depression (D runs in my family). He's the type that doesn't like to admit that depression is a problem for him, and he's very anti therapy (although pro medication thank god or I'm sure I'd have lost him by now). This is pure gold.
