In the hospital

Posted by fallsfall on November 13, 2003, at 7:17:54

Hi Babblers,

I took my friend Dee (deirdrehbrt who posts here on Babble) to the hospital yesterday.

For the last couple of months she has been working very hard on, and making an enormous amount of progress with, her DID stuff. Recently, the closing of the group hit her with a major amount of stress in more than one area.

She has been fighting very, very hard to stay above water - and she has been doing a really good job. But it kept getting harder and harder, and the pressure of staying safe was very difficult.

She didn't want to go to the hospital. She is very tired, and it is time for her to let people help her with her struggles.

I am very proud of her. She was able to keep from doing anything dangerous. This is a major accomplishment.

She would love to hear from you. I will print out this thread and give it to her in the hospital.

Thanks,
Falls

I'm sending my very warmest thoughts to you.

I know what you did in going to the hospital was difficult, but I also know that keeping yourself safe was the brave and wise choice. I admire and respect you for doing what needed to be done.

I've seen so many people who went to the hospital from Babble find so much help there, and come out in such a better condition, and I hope that that is also true of you.

I look forward to seeing you posting on Babble again when you're back.

Warm wishes,

Dinah

dee,
what got me through hospital stays was understanding that the staff are just like us..
they have families and a life other than "clinents" and they have to keep a safe distants while trying to be close?
keep your head above theirs and have fun reading all thoses outdated magazines..
dee...i hope you are okay..
you are there to get better ,,to get a little extra push to help you survive..
warm hug..
hot tea.

Dee,

You are very courageous to face your problems. You knew you were in a dangerous situation and you put yourself in a safe place. That is so hard, but you did it.

I'm sending positive thoughts your way. Take care.

Dear dierdre,
You have been one of those people I've admired from afar. You always write such caring, intelligent and thoughtful posts to people. The other week I thought that you had responded to a post I'd written and I was really happy--not that I'm not elated to hear from my beloved falls, but I perked up when I saw your name on the thread--even if it was by accident.

Dierdre, I can only say I know what despair feels like, and I wish there were some less tormented way out of it. Maybe this is a chance for you to collect yourself, give yourself the time and attention you deserve in order to heal. I only wish I were there to be on the team of people supporting you.

Instead I am here sending you my prayers,
Love,
Kara Lynne

Dear Dee, I want to express my concern for your hospitalization. You were so kind to me when I was wanting information about my mother's hospitalization records. It's my turn to give you the support and kindness. Please hang on to the knowledge that we are all praying, thinking and sending you our love and caring. You are a wonderful person and I am so glad to know you. I send you my best. You are in my prayers and thoughts.

Hi Dee.. I feel I have gotten to know such an intelligent, loving and courageous person from your posts- what you have written and shared has been a tremendous help to me because of having DID, also. I believe you are the only other person who has written about it here, and that has meant a great deal to me.

I have not been hospitalized, so there's a lot I don't know about it. However, I have had the experience in my own therapy of "falling apart" and having increasing levels of stress, to the point where they were unbearable- only to find, later on, that it was actually part of getting better- of getting somehow re-organized in a healthier way, with the different parts of myself better integrated. From everything you have writen to us here, I know that you have been getting stronger and better integrated during the time you have been posting, and I feel confident tht you will be able to continue getting stronger and healthier. I know you have a terrific therapist, and that is so important.

Taking this time just for yourself, to rest and allow others to do a good job of caring for you should be helpful and strengthening. I know others on the board have found that to be the case. I, and many others here, will be thinking of you each day, and looking forward to hearing from you again when you are ready to be in touch. Take good care, Dee,

with love, Pfinstegg

I read about half of them to her over the phone yesterday. She was speechless.

Yesterday she was very tired, and slept a lot. She really needed to sleep. She thanked me and didn't say that she didn't want to be in the hospital - so she is making progress.

I'll post more info when I have it.

Keep those cards and letters coming!

Dee has been able to get some rest and is not sounding as overwhelmingly tired as she was. She is still in a lot of anguish, but is talking with staff at the hospital. I'll go to see her tomorrow. I read all of your posts - she was touched. I'll print them for her tomorrow.

Thanks

The rumor says that she's coming home tomorrow!

Sunday I went with Nansun58 to see her at the hospital. I brought printouts of all of your posts and we taped them on her wall. She really doesn't know what to make of it all - she is still trying to deny that you all like her, or that anyone could. Hopefully seeing it in black and white will help.

So, with any luck you'll hear from her tomorrow!

Thanks for your support.

Hi everyone!
I am out of the hospital, and still very tired, but I wanted to let you all know how very much your words meant to me.
As you can see, this was a short-stay facility. I still have a long way to go.
I met some wonderfull people there, some who I hope to stay in touch with.
Falls kept me in touch with what was going on here, and I was very surprised to see that so many people care about me. Thank you so much. It mattered.
Dee. (((((everyone)))))
