That Knucklehead Internet Guy.....

Posted by Susan J on October 10, 2003, at 11:09:07

Who hasn't responded to my e-mail in 2 days now after I e-mailed him my pic......

Just doesn't know what he's missing. :-)

I know of, through 3rd parties, one person who's had success using an internet dating service.

Anyone else? Any advice? I could put up Sandra Bullock's picture instead of mine...that would help. :-)

His loss.....I'm sure of that. :-)

There are many fish in the sea.

Keep your expectations small, and have fun!

Nah! Then you'd have to do that makeover thing you despise. ;-)

Hi Susan.

I don't know the whole situation but I wouldn't worry too much about it. It could be that after seeing your picture perhaps he feels that he doesn't stack up. Or maybe he has some weird fetish with collecting women's pictures. Ever see "One Hour Photo". I'm kidding...

I tried the online dating thing for a while and had some mixed results. I ended up meeting a few of them for coffee (at different times) and they all looked totally different than their pictures - maybe meeting over drinks would have helped. Let's just say that they must have been really good with a photo editing program... And one more thing, they all lied about their height. I'm pretty tall so I want a guy that is taller than me even when I wear heels.

Keep me posted of any success stories you come across. Perhaps it will motivate me to try it again.

Best wishes!

Yes, he doesn't know what he's missing, and you are probably better off! If that's how he's gonna act...

I've done the internet dating thing a couple of times, and it was okay - I posted my pic with my ad on match.com, so they would know upfront what I look like. Had a couple of dates with guys I met on the internet, but they weren't great. Oh well. I've actually had better luck with speed dating - you meet the person face-to-face without any immediate rejection, and you know pretty quickly whether you click or not. 6-8 minutes can actually be a long time...

A good friend of mine in Charlotte met her long-term boyfriend through match.com, so it most definitely can happen. Just be patient, and be proud of yourself! You are a wonderful person, and any man would be lucky to have you! Keep telling yourself that!!!

Thanks guys!

Now, see, why isn't it my *first* reaction that he was totally intimidated by my looks rather than totally grossed out by them?

I need to work on that.

There's another guy that's been writing, likes my pic, and seems pretty normal. I was just a little disappointed that I didn't seem to click with this guy as well as the other one. But that's OK. Unlike knucklehead internet guy, I'm mature enough to give it a face-to-face before bitterly rejecting someone. :-)

I really *am* worth getting to know, I really *am* worth getting to know, I really *am* worth getting to know...

:-)

Thanks again. I hope everyone has a *wonderful* weekend!

Susan

Would you mind showing me your picture? I'll even send you mine if you want, too.

hey SusanJ, I met my partner online. We were from different sides of the planet. We have been living together now for 6 years. We didnt meet at a dating service but on a msg board a bit like this - not a mental health issue board though. I think it's a bit like real life in that way - activities where you interact with people are good ways to meet potential mates.

Sorry now I think that as I have no knowledge of dating services online my post is somewhat redundant. I suppose Im just saying meeting people online does work, there are other ways to meet people online apart from dating services, & Im sure if you give it time the dating service will work too.
God, what a lot of nonsense Ive just said. Good luck with it, Im sure you will meet someone right for you.
