How do you find a girlfriend??

Posted by Sebastian on September 7, 2003, at 10:43:58

I haven't been having any luck in this feild. Since my medical condition, I've only had one relationship that lasted more than a day, that was for 2 years, but a crapy relationship. Befor my condition I almost always had no problems dating. That was 7 years ago. I haven't dated at all in 2 years now. Befor the 2 year relationship I had 2 one night stands, and a party with naked girls. During or my idea of the end of the 2 year relationship I had a one night stand.

Its not that girls don't look interested in me? I don't think so anyways. But I don't know how to show any interest in them since the 2 year relationship that I broke off.

I feel that I realy need someone now but don't know how. maybe just too affraid to.

hi Sebastian, you cant catch a fish if you dont cast your line (or something like that)! This is the hardest part I think, you've got to be in a situation where you are meeting lots of people or mutual friends can introduce you to likely matches. If you have a social life mention to friends who are in couples that you are looking. Go to every social occasion you are invited to. Attend short courses on things that interest you (not guy stuff - there wont be any women there). Talk to women that take your fancy that you meet there. If they respond to you ask for their phone number.
I wish you good luck!

I don't know where to go? I've tried the personals. Don't have much of a social life. Just about all my friends are married.

Sebastian

PS Help, I don't know where to go anymore, it was easy to just go to a bar but that does not work for me anymore.

hi Sebastian,
Yes once you get to your late 20's it seems people dont make friends or relationships with people they meet in bars. There must be some colleges or other organisations in your area that put on short courses. Whatever interests you from painting, massage, books, learning a language etc there has to be somethings that tickles your fancy. Go there. Your married friends are more likely to want to set you up with someone. Let them know you are looking for a girlfriend. How did the personals turn out? Maybe we could give you some feedback on wording an ad?
Good luck & dont give up!

I just finished a two year degree, in college? Didn't meet any girls. Personals turned up 2 ads for someones nude pics!, and one girl who thought I was sweet and never mailed back. All other 20 or so that I messenged to didn't return the mail.

I work, talk on PB, go to the gym (but can't meet people, because I'm shy), thats it.

Ive never felt comfortable at the gym - so many seem to be out to impress rather than workout. The aim with seminars or short courses in things that interest you is there's already a common interest & something to talk about. Single people do go there hoping to meet people as well as enjoy a leisure activity. As you are already well educated that is a plus because it opens up a lot more areas of potential interests for you. I did some Thai cooking classes a few hours on the weekend over a few weeks & had a great time. I also did a 6 week course of 4hrs/week on short film making. The point is you have to get out & about, then you will definitely find someone.

As for the personals - no idea what happened there. Maybe best to place your own ad & sort through your replies. Just because it bombed out before doesnt mean it will never work.
best of luck with it Sebastian
