Well, it's not sleep apnea, but...

they don't know what my problem is. Maybe it's really all in my head. The sleep clinic doc said that I definitely don't have a breathing problem, but that I did have some "alpha delta" sleep, which apparently means I wake up fairly frequently throughout the night, which can lead to unrefreshing sleep. However, while it can be associated with chronic pain, depression, stress, etc., there's no real cause they can put their finger on, so he recommends sleep drugs. I recommend talking to my pdoc - he got a copy of the sleep study results anyway. I see him tonight.

On another note - I'm getting ready to have lunch with my former college roommate. This should be interesting. I haven't seen her in quite a while, and things didn't end too amicably between us. My therapist asked me what I was most worried about, and I said I'm most worried about leaving there feeling like a bad person. At least I have the excuse of having to get back to work. She said that I should try to look at this as more of an observer than a participant, to keep myself from getting too drawn in emotionally. And she said to avoid any talk of "what happened that made us stop talking?" talk. I totally agreed - I just can't take that right now.

Thank goodness my current roommate is gone until Tuesday. I need a break from her. Although she was quite civil to me last night and this morning. We shall see.

Did your pdoc have any suggestions? Sleep disturbances can wreak havoc.

Well, I'm now trying valerian root. We've tried so much...I think my other docs think this is caused by the meds, but I've been having fatigue and sleep problems since well before I started medication. We shall see...
