Though I haven't participated in any active ceremony in at least 3 years. I've moved from the city to a small very religious farming community,
and I suspect I'm the only one here.
I don't mind it being personal though I did find
it to be more meaningful with just a few very close friends, as I found to my dissappointment the politics to be present in the wiccan community as much as they were in any other shamelessly hierarcical one.I'm having a dreadful day, and probably not being clear at all I just thought I'd let you know that yes, there is one here, though I'm more reserved about it.
Unless someone uses the term Witch synonymously with satanism or evil, or other
things I can't really broach here involving the religion I was raised into, biblical interpretations, women, the Malleus Maleficarum
and well many other things. Then I can get very hot under the collar, very
very very very...

I have not been around lately, for I have not been doing all that well.
But I had to say YES... I am here. I am solitary, and goddess based. Some of my old posts showed that I was but, I did not think there was anyone else here.
No I do not go to the Faith site, for it is not faith this is what I believe and know to be true.

I am...somewhat...definitely believe in the principals,
etc...but the groups around here that I've been to have
been a turn off somehow. I am definitely nature based in
my spirituality...kind of pagan like. I used to do "spells"
when I was younger...nothing evil of course...just setting aside
time to think about what I wanted to manifest in my life and putting
together symbols..creating sacred space...tuning into spirit...etc.
I actually really liked doing that. Now when I go on a hike...I think
of that as going to church.Funny, I was just reading about the lead singer of this
metal group called Godsmack...the lead singer, Sully Erna
is a wiccan. He's a cutie too :-)

I am so tired of people associating wiccan with satanism. This past weekend, in a little town in Grand Rapids, MI, a so called church BURNED books that had anything myical, spells, anything even all the Harry Potter books. They said that satin had taken over.
Upset was not the word for it... I was outraged, I could not even sleep that night. There are so many ignorant people around here and the world. Even my folks consider it evil, I just drop the subject for they are strict catholic. You know the ones that have crosses on every wall... that is my parents.
Wiccan is not evil, only the person performing the rituals may be.
Funny, Witchcraft was about before Christanity, and they took alot of our rituals and made them there own. They took one of our gods, who was not evil at all, and made there Devil to look like him.
When will the burning stop? First Salem, now books and everything else.
Sorry I am just very protective of this subject!

Oh ya yah, that Godsmack guy is sweet. I try to keep up on things. I was visiting a dear frined of mine who had her granddaughter visiting. She's 13. She was surprised when I told her old I was because I'm hip. (Proud puffed up chest here; strutting around the room). Yeah I know who Justin Timberlake is. I don't like the dude but hey. So then I tried to educate her about this "pop rock" crap and how they have no talent but are cute and they target little girls in her age range. "But he's so cuuuuute!", she said. Ah well, I was like that with Shaun Cassidy, sooo.

See that's it exactly! I was raised Roman Catholic. When my brother was 17, he sat down with Mom and Dad and said, "I'm not going to go to church anymore. I appreciate all you guys have done, but I don't believe that you need to go to church to connect with God. I see God in my friends and in my life"...and man, are my parents cool or what?- they said ok.I'd like to know more about Wiccans...Gabbi has told me some...well maybe I should get a book. But I fear that a book would give me "hardcore wiccan" stuff.

We do not believe in ONE god, or the one god.
We do not believe in something that has no proof. We have proof for Wiccan, in writtings, rituals and even the fact that other religions used Wiccan as a stepping stone to build there own beliefes.
We do have complete trust though.
Wiccan is a very sacrid belief, and is not talked about enough for people to truly grasp what it is about. We are not satanic...

lol, I knew about Sully being wiccan... I remember MTV news mentioning it after the video for "Voodoo" came out. And yes, he's pretty easy on the eyes, lol.
It's great to be in touch with your spiritual side, isn't it? However that may be... spells, meditation, a hike in the woods... it's all so "centering". :-)

I remember when some town in New Mexico or Arizona (can't remember exactly) burned Harry Potter books sometime last year. I too was outraged beyond belief, and was also unable to sleep the night that I heard about it.
I'm really sorry about your parents... I'm blessed to have a mother that actually supports my beliefs. Then again, she has admitted to me that the only reason she considers herself Christian is because she's afraid if she doesn't, the devil is gonna come and "get her", lmao.
My younger sister (about to be fifteen September 3) is a devout Wiccan. I suppose she was first turned onto the idea because of me (though I practice paganism, not Wicca). By no means did I ever push any beliefs onto her though, nor would I ever have wanted to. She's incredibly bright (14 and entering the 12th grade), and far too much an individual to fall for religious propaganda anyway.

Right... Christmas was originally the pagan Sabbat of Yule (winter solstice), Easter the pagan Sabbat of Ostara (spring equinox), and Halloween (though not a Christian holiday) the pagan Sabbat of Samhain.
The Christmas wreath and evergreen tree were originally pagan... not many people know that.
As for the pagan god that was made into the Judeo-Christian devil, you'll have to refresh my memory... I believe it was the Egyptian god, Set (Set, Satan...)? And I'm sure it's no coincidence that the ancient Norse goddess Hel was a ruler of the underworld. ;-)

I'm totally out of touch...the only reason I found out
about Godsmack was I happened to be watching that weird
Pepsi concert they play every sunday now and Godsmack was
on it. I don't even know why I was watching it. But the cute
hip bubbly chick was interviewing Sully and he sounded very, very
nice and also intelligent! I was so shocked! He talked about the song
Serenity that they were going to play and how he was inspired by a book
that Neil Peart (from Rush) wrote after his wife and daughter died
all within 10 months...it was about riding a motorcycle across the country
and his "healing journey"...I was so surprised to hear a metal guy talking
about being inspired by someone's healing journey! And he just seemed really
sweet and enthusiastic. I listened to the song Serenity and it was actually
really good. Plus the guy is a hottie. So I googled him and learned about
how he's into Wicca, etc.
I really don't like to associate myself wholly with any particular
religion...including something as open and free as wicca or paganism.
I relate closely with it, for sure. Religion and spirituality is such a
personal thing...such a process...figuring out what it means for you. I
never have fit nicely into any particular category, I guess.How old are you anyway, you hipster you? I'm 34, and will be 35 at the

I will have to look up the spelling of the God tonight. It is in a couple of my books that explains our roots.
Great sites... I have a few favorite sites, but will not bring them up at work.
I have not found many of us in Michigan, but did find one at work. So I will be so happy to get out to CA, when I move that is, and achually have a community!

Yes, it is great. Like exercise, I just don't feel "right"
somehow, if I don't have that spiritual time (and that can mean
just having a day by myself and being quiet). Nature is very important...I
need to get out and hike at least once a week. I also
resonate very strongly with zen meditation. I feel really good
when I'm meditating regularly (which I haven't been), but I'm slowly
getting back into it. Yesterday I meditated for 20 minutes....marvelled
at my monkey brain, jumping all over the place, chattering, chattering
chattering...and was soothed by the occasional moments of silence and just
being in the present moment.
I know your name is french, but does it have a meaning?

That was one of the subjects I was not going to bring up but seeing as y'all have... No not the worship of material goods.. satinism, but the appropriation many of the pagan rituals and gods and godesses, I was thinking specifically of
the fertility godess.
Who of course in keeping with the patriarchy had to have her power of fertility 'cleansed' and become simply a conduit for a male god..
It does amaze me how people can just ignore an inconvenient part of history.
And yeah, it does keep me from sleeping..
