I'd like to have a Gifted Recovery program to recover gifted (and I believe everyone's got a gift even if it got misplaced) adults who got trapped in quiet desperation. I don't know how it would work but it wouldn't be therapy. Maybe a magical mystery boat or something to take them away. Like an enrichment program for gifted kids but for adults.

Ooh. I want the real Steven Levenkron. Although I strongly suspect that how he describes himself in books is as much fiction as fact. Could he be that wonderful? But if it must be fictional, Judd Hirsch's character in Ordinary People.

True. But try telling them it's just an inkblot, any reasonable person can see it's an inkblot, what else could it possibly be? You can't win.

I hadn't ever heard of Steven Levenkron. I just looked him up but now I vaguely remember reading "The Best Little Girl in the World" After I read that I started wondering if I'd flunked my own test. Atticus was a counselor at Law actually I guess but then I also remembered he was in Captain Newman MD I think as a psychiatrist-well Gregory Peck anyway. I might have slightly exaggerated my life in therapy I didn't use a calculator. My real life Psych told me yesterday to try to stay lighthearted on here. I told him it was too much pressure trying to be funny all the time. He told me just to be myself that was funny enough ?!?!?! And then at the end he says "May the farce be with you!" Little does he know I'm dreaming of Gregory Peck.

It's nice to think of you being happy in high school.

Oh, this is awful... I'm sitting here trying to think of something and it is very hard. But here's one, not a specific moment, but in college when I was with my squash team was usually good.

Well, for one thing I know that the depression will come back inevitably. But... I pay off my college loan, then travel around the world for a while. Then I don't know.

lol, what a great quiz! Since I haven't changed my name, I won't bother to complete it. But, I would suggest that question two be the number of years/months you've been in therapy, rather than the percentage. See, if someone says "I've been in therapy 30 years" I can automatically rule out a lot of people that may have just changed names. If someone says 50% of my life, and they are 25, that means they've been in therapy since about age 12.5 years, which is not so unusual these days.

Whether or not you change q2, it's a great idea!

Shar

It's not a guess that poster quiz, it's a get to know you for the people who don't know us all too well already quiz. :)

While you may know me better than most of my IRL friends, there are some new posters who might not, and who I'd like to get to know. So c'mon. Brio did a good job making a quiz that sneaks some telling questions in there. I'm enjoying reading everyone's answers.

Well, it is the best love I can find for now, but believe me, when some new innovation comes along, I'm hoping it is a good one for me.

Sometimes, I wish I had Sherlock Holmes (Dinah will be able to relate to this one!), who can solve all the riddles and bring all the loose ends together in a succinct solution. But it wouldn't be much fun rambling on with the esteemed Holmes--and his rather quirky social skills would be offputting at times.

No, I'd have to say I'd prefer Atticus Finch.

Baked potato.

> Hah! For $100 I bought an old subaru two door that felt like you were actually sitting on the pavement as you drove. It was a real clunker but it was wheels! And I wasn't that young--I only got my first car at 26 years old. Of course, I lived in a big city with good transit, so it was ok, and I used to walk a lot, which was a whole lot better for me. A couple of years later, when I replaced it with an old Honda--which I loved--I couldn't PAY anyone to take the Subaru off my hands. After that I drove another old Honda until it died, and only got my first real new car a couple of years ago.

LOL--who are we imagining when we are with our therapists--what a funny image.

Yeah, I'm guessing he wouldn't get far on this board (too many PBC's by far) but the book always makes me laugh. I found the reference you mentioned:

"Mr. I Abelman, Mongoloid, Esq."

Well, he said 'Esquire', at least?
