Re doc bob all ...just my musings

Poor Doc. Bob takes a lot of bashing here and often time I wonder if it is deserved. As a physician, he has certain obligations. I am thinking of a post accusing him of “hacking” in to another system. Although computer crime is illegal, does it override his obligation as medical professional and “mandated reporter” of those that may “cause injury to themselves or others”? I think that would go to high courts. If this really happened, does anyone think Bob did it for any reason other than to prevent the death of someone here? I highly doubt that it was done with malice!

Redirects, doc, can be bothersome. Maybe you should look more at the context as well as the comments. Like you may think this post should be at administration—and it does in a way—but it also belongs here, as much of the conversation that this post looks at happens here. Maybe I should post at both or you could leave and re-direct??

Comments about ‘being civil”: what is wrong with that? This board deals with many, my-self included, that can easily miss-read on take a comment out of context which could lead to further actions that I will not mention but I think all get the drift.

Blocking: (boy I’m on a role) I don’t think doc ever blocks without prior suggestions of civility. This is his bored and I would imagine—despite his research ect.—he does this for more than data collection. I mean how many times as he made “personal” comments to us as individuals. We are not seen merely as subjects—as mice or lab rats—but those comment treat us as peers.

Free speech is an American right, but there are even some exceptions to that—like hate speech or screaming fire in a movie theatre when there is none ( I could remember the law and incident that led to it, and what movie it was during…lol)

Also, aside from his responsibilities as an MD, they’re also certain research protocol that again he is mandated to study…for more on this, search for “research and syphilis”
and see some of the “rules” for scientific enquiry he is bound by.

Personally, while at times he frustrates us, I’m sure we do the same to him. I remember once while a bit manic thinking I totally took over the board and aside from many of you who I’d like to thank for helping me feel that was ok, he did as well. I think we should see more of his positives than focusing on the negatives.

And while doing so, remember to use “I” statements!!!…Morning meds coming right up: one lump or two???

Ok, I’m back to self-blocking status for a bit, but like Orwell, I’ll be watching you!!

In peace and with love,
~tony

Are you trying to tell us something lost Sailor?
PBC, Kar.
No not really.

I agree with what you've said. I think we all know (esp. if we've been around the board long enough) that attitudes really ebb and flow. There's often a controversial or highly emotionally charged issue that stirs up the embers. Then people "fight"...spend lots of time on Admin., vent (which is perfectly fine) and announce their departure. It is (aside from contributing to Dr. B's research) quite a little social anthropological experiment too. There are tons of people reading, posting and being affected in positive ways here.

This is not a rah rah for Dr. Bob and I don't agree with all of the rules either. But I met one of my best friends here...someone who in the first time in my life really truly completely knows what depression is like. And that's priceless. Oh God I sound like American Express commercial now...

i like this place, :) (nm)

Thanks. But since this is administrative, I'd like this thread to be redirected to PBA. Here's a link:

Tony- it was just a joke :D You said:
…for more on this, search for “research and syphilis”

I said it because you mentioned syphilis and it could be construed that you had it...
