Posted by dreamerz on February 28, 2003, at 19:36:44

I like horrific/thrillin/scarey movies-to watch alone in the dark..but it takes a lot to freak me ok any recommendations..old/new..usually it's camera angles and tricks that can freak me..not gore--that's usually just silly funny--For comedy I like zombies but I got them vids..
I ain't your average girlie so bring em on.
I've started to watch tv..but I have a vcr...so...

I liked the first Candyman movie-- don't really remember how scary/scarey it was.

And for a non-monster, kind of, movie I liked the first Red Dragon movie, which was also called Manhunter.

I'm just like you dreamer...I don't scare easily . But the following movie had me shit scared from beginning to end. The title of the novie describes it perfectly..."INTENSITY"

Go to your local video store and get out the VHS..I GUARANTEE you'll love it.

Here's a quick link to a review on the movie which is actually based on a novel by Dean Koontz.

Let me know what You think :) :)..

You mean like "Intensity" by Dean Koontz? I think I've read just about everything he's ever written. Was a full-fledged "addict" before the Lexapro relieved me of my addictions. <chuckle, but it's true>

Oops, you answered that, didn't you . . . OK, too tired to be posting, apparently . . . I believe you that it had to be a terrifically scary movie. It's the only Koontz book that ever wigged me out. I couldn't actually read and enjoy it like the others. Had to keep skipping ahead, it was giving me such a headache. Probably, though, that has something to do with the fact that I sit down and read them in one (or, at most, two) sittings.

OK, speaking of "wigged out" . . . . the first link Amazon.com offered me was "The Sharp Edge of Love" . . . . now THAT scares me . . . especially considering my love life lately . . .

Hello sweet Bozeman

I only saw the movie but haven't read the novel. Most reviews seem to say that the movie is as good or even better than the novel. So if you had trouble reading the book maybe the movie on a dark stormy night when your home alone will be a better option for you!!!!

I looked up that link you posted and one of the book titles was "Screw the Roses, Send Me the Thorns: The Romance and Sexual Sorcery of Sadomasochism"

Because I don't have a sex life maybe this explains why I love my rose garden so much :) :) :).

My warmest regards

I could have sworn that I posted a reply to this, but it's not showing up: am I going crazy??? OH,wait, I AM crazy.
But no, I haven't seen Joyride, but I will look for it. And I do feel crazy. My meds only seem to be partly working-- enough so to get me out of bed
but not enough so to prevent me from looking forward with all my being to my return to bed, when I can turn the lights out and pull the covers up over my head
and put my headphones on and listen to the BBC overnight news. Please, someone else tell me that I'm not the only one!
Sleepgasms? God you're lucky. I occasionally get a decent dream but never THAT decent. And since I've started taking Lexapro and Risperdal my libido seems to have been
placed somewhere else anyway. Yes, I know. I've been reading the other threads: Fix your depression first and the rest will follow. Is it time for bed yet?

Re-Animator

Fright Night

Carrie

Pet Sematary

The Shining

Any of the Hellraisers

Night Breed

Night of the Demons

Demon Knight

Candyman

the original Night of the Living Dead

The original Nightmare on Elm Street

The Changeling

The Serpent and the Rainbow (lol... for "our" group of people... this would probably freak you right out)

Event Horizon

In the Mouth of Madness

The Night Flier & Thinner (Loved the books more, but the movies were pretty good too)

Want to see something just really freaky? Strangelands... done by that dude from Twisted Sister

Tales from the Darkside: The Movie

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Psycho (Book recommendation... the real Psycho, story of Ed Geins)

Hallowe'en

The Amityville Horror

Phantasm

The Howling

I like spooky sci-fi also...alien one of my fav films.
David lynch stuff spooks me.

If you like Sci-Fi Horror, I would definitely recommend Event Horizon... that's one of my favourite horror movies period and I'm not even a big fan of Sci-Fi

The first Texas Chainsaw was like the first Evil Dead.... it was the only truely good one out of the whole lot... the rest of the Chainsaw series was just weird scary... like "why did they even film that" type scary...

David Lynch... isn't he the guy that did that Mulholland Drive? Or is he the guy that did The Lost Highway? I know I know that name from somewhere....

Hey, I actually haven't heard of the movie, but from the movie reviews it doesn't sound all that great. That "Woodstock" guy supposedly deters quite a bit from the point of the movie... that it's a horror movie... and keeps trying to add other little social elements into the picture.

However, I did read the book review and the book sounded so good that I've got one already in the mail for me. I'll let you know what that's like...
