Need people song ideas for dark caroling...

Posted by Phil on December 23, 2002, at 18:50:57

I feel a need to make Christmas real for a lot of us. Music's a good way to start and we could get national exposure very easily.

1. What will we call ourselves?

B. How many tunes a night?

III. Dr. Bob said he would pay traveling expenses so we could depress several metropolitan areas. Thanks Bob. Beardy, I don't think he'll mind the first class thing.

~. We need a songlist, ideas? I've started on this one: "Think I'm Gonna Shoot Myself" It's kinda peppy so we'll have to dig it down some.
If anyone remembers Bloodrock, "DOA" is a natural..we could do the long version.

Q. "Elvis will be there-the real one." This is Barnum & Bailey and Don King rolled into one. Any thoughts?*

*Dr Bob This is in no way meant to make fun of or condone suicide. It's a small way to let the world know that a large % of people would really like to cancel this part of the year.

OK, here are a few to think over:

Instead of "The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia" we could do "The year the lights went out at the babble boards"

"Crazy Train" by Ozzy could instead be Insanity Road with lyrics cronlogically telling the story of us crazy posters.

Bette Midler's "The Rose" could be the tune for "The Darkness". Lyrics such as ... Some say darkness, it is a curse, that leads the soul to bleed. I say darkness, it is a blessing that helps the lonely to feed.

I hope this helps. I obviously don;t have talent for this, but soo enjoy a good spoof.

I actually laughed. Unbelievable

Thank you. I wish I had something bitter to add.
I'm unable to think though. It happens

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring except the insomniac with a mouse.
The children were all snuggled safe in their beds while visions of Ritalin danced in their heads.
Mama on her Paxil and I on my Prozac had just settled down for a long winter's nap, when out on the lawn there rose such a clatter, we both jumped from bed and grabbed our pills platter.
When what to our wondering eyes should appear, but a miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer, with a little ole driver so lively and quick, we both know he must be very sick.

Well Done Carol!

Another time, another place, another song did we deface. It's been so long, do I remember...those woolly words spake that December? Here are some, maybe most, raised from the Archival Ghost.

Shar
(this was a joint venture of PBers years ago, just couldn't resist dragging it out again, especially since it only works once a year.)

"On the first day of christmas my doctor gave to me electro shock therapy.

On the second day of christmas my doctor gave to me, little green pills and electro shock therapy

On the third day of christmas my doctor gave to me, four new labels, little green pills and electro shock therapy

On the fourth day of christmas my doctor gave to me, anti-psychotics, four new labels, little green pills and electro shock therapy

On the fifth day of christmas my doctor gave to me, insulin shocks, anti-psychotics, four new labels, little green pills and electro shock therapy

On the sixth day of christmas my doctor gave to me, some ritalin, insulin shocks, anti-psychotics, four new labels, little green pills and electro shock therapy

On the seventh day of christmas my doctor gave to me, a straight jacket, some ritalin, insulin shocks, anti-psychotics, four new labels, little green pills and electro shock therapy

On the eighth day of christmas my doctor gave to me, a book by freud, a straight jacket, some ritalin, insulin shocks, anti-psychotics, four new labels, little green pills and electro shock therapy

On the ninth day of christmas my doctor gave to me, a padded cell, a book by freud, a straight jacket, some ritalin, insulin shocks, anti-psychotics, four new labels, little green pills and electro shock therapy

On the tenth day of christmas my doctor gave to me, some LSD, a padded cell, a book by freud, a straight jacket, some ritalin, insulin shocks, anti-psychotics, four new labels, little green pills and electro shock therapy

On the 11th day of christmas my doctor gave to me, some powder cocaine, some LSD, a padded cell, a book by freud, a straight jacket, some ritalin, insulin shocks, anti-psychotics, four new labels, little green pills and electro shock therapy

Well I tried....

Away in a mania, no need for a bed,
I'm little Lord Jesus so crown my sweet head,
The stars in the bright sky swept down where I lay,
I'm xtra terrestial my spaceships o' the way.

The cattle are glowing, munching cornflakes,
I'm laughing at nothing no crying I makes.
I love you, and love you; look up to the sky,
and levitate by my side until morning is nigh.

Be near me, join with me, I ask you to play
close by me forever, and love me, I pray.
Bless all the freaky chickens and NHS care,
as I fly to heaven, and watch thee from there.
