Voodoo?

Posted by Bobby on December 17, 2002, at 22:39:22

I'm sitting here and a story just came to mind that i think I'll share. I was seeing a woman in Jamaica one time in my life and this is what happened on a particular trip.
I flew into town one extremely hot sweltering day. As planned, she picked me up at the airport in a local taxi. I had booked a nearby room and had planned to go there and shower and relax. She then informed me that we could not stay in Montego bay. I asked her why and she told me that another woman was trying to kill her. I inquired as to why and she said that she had stabbed the woman with an ice pick. So we set off to her home many miles away in a dangerous part of the island. Here I found myself flying down a dirt road in the middle of nowhere with reggae music blaring so loud that it hurt my ears. We had no air condition and the dust was boiling everywhere. so we got to her house( one room because of the desperate poverty) and collected her clothes. Then we drove acoss the country to Negril. Once there we rented a grass roof bungalo. That night we went to a disco not far from our hut ( of course the music was deafening). So anyhow we presently came back to the our room. It was late and we decided to go straight to bed. The heat was stifling and I could not sleep for thousands of croaking tree frog. we were lying in bed and things started to get "romantic". Well i was so hot (temperature wise) that i decided to go to the bathroom to wash the sweat off of my face. right before I opened the door she say's to me "don't open the door, you'll knock over the fi-yah" I thought to myself,"what is she talking about?" Nevertheless, I opened the door and there on the floor of this tinderbox was her underwear burning right on the floor. It took me several minutes to put out the fire. Well I have never figure out for sure but i think it was some kind of voodoo or "ohbea" as they call it. That's one of the reasons that i was not more straightforth to defend Gabbi during her last run in with mr. Scott. I have always been drawn to women in trouble and it has cost me dearly to this very day. There are many other stories that i have been caught up in involving women in trouble(especially financialy). My Dr. say's that i have a
"savior complex". Bless Gabbi and I hope that she understands. That's just one story amough many
and now I'm a little gunshot when it comes to that subject matter. Enough of my babble.

Hi:

I was just reading something similar to the bigger idea of what you are saying. I was reading "Ghost Rider" by Neil Peart, and after he lost his only child, his 19 year old daughter, in 1997, to a car accident, then his wife died of cancer in 1998, Neil talks about a few of these things that are VERY different for him. He went through a hell of a depression, and admitted the symptoms and pain will never leave him, even if he remains alive. He talks of feeling like he was cursed..or that someone, something, some God or God(s) had done this too him...and ended up writing a song in 2001 about it, called "The Stars Look Down". This is a guy who used to believe SO much in this whole "fiercly independent/atheist/freewill" thing, and now was writing of being cursed, and got into Tarot Cards even. The song chorus goes "What is the meaning of this? What are you trying to do? Was it something I said? Something you would like me to do?"
