This is the life or is it?

Posted by Willow on July 15, 2002, at 22:42:44

All the children are sound asleep, husband is at work, drank a hot cup of coffee with tiger (marble) cake and now I'm enjoying a very Canadian tobacco product, nothing illegal about it, except perhaps the tax I've paid on it and that just depends on which way you look at it. I managed to have a peaceful quiet morning by sending the children to pick stawberries with my mother and tonight after two days of packing got the last of them into the freezer, though the sweet overripe ones I left out, about two litres worth for pancakes and just snacking. Dishes and laundry are caught up as much as I can hope for, there's always folding to do, but then there's always dusting and an animal hair that can be picked off the furniture around here. The wind is blowing from the north which makes the day feel refreshingly comfortable and would you believe my house is at 20c (68f for you americans) with no help from air-conditioning just by opening the windows.

So what do I have to complain about?

My son came up to me today and commented that my eyes were black underneath and asked why.

I'm tired.

You mean like Mel Gibson in Braveheart barbaric? Face half painted blue, hair in a big ratty tangle, mud-streaked legs peekin' out beneath the kilt, ridin around on a big ol' snorting black stallion?

Wouldn't THAT surprise the hubby and kids...

FREEEEEEEDOM!!! (Mel's dying word)

Willow, I do hope you feel better soon. I always find it takes at least three times the length of the vacation to recover from it. Four times if it was an especially fun vacation. :) Give your pdoc a call in the meantime. Maybe there is something he can suggest to help you through the recovery.

Hope to see you soon in chat.

I thought Willow's post was lovely. I don't know what Canadian tobacco product she's talking about, but it sounds luxurious to me. And tired--well, that's a fact of life for most of us. But I read her post and thought, "Good for you!"

Did I miss a cry for help in there?

The Effexor has really messed up my concentration. Perhaps I misinterpreted.

Ooooooooooo, how I've missed my summer cyber bodies. I think the squabblings that have accumulated over the winter had driven me into a small corner of the cyber world to pout, plus my own winter gremlins scared me into being too scared to venture out.

Dreamer and Tabitha, you both have been peeking into my heart. Tabitha's description of Dreamer's idea of getting barbaric is perfect.

My jaunt stateside did wonders for me. I've found a friend who to me feels like a little sister I've had my whole life. Now all I have to do is count the days till we can see each other again. The trip did wonders for my children.

The raccoon eyes are a result of the lunar cycle of life. I will take my iron like a good girl and am sure to look and feel picture perfect in a week or two. I think? Hope! I know I will.

Thanks for all your well wishes!

If you'll make me pancakes, I'll give you a foot massage, deal? I'm glad you had such a nice visit, I'm very jealous. I think the closest I'll ever get is that tiny little Willow waving her arms wildly on the Mapquest map....sigh.

Willow,
I am glad that you had a good vaca, not sure I know what canadian tabaco is, although I do suppose I have an idea, at any rate it's always hard to go back to something hard after having such a nice time doing something else (does that make sense? Kinda out of it lately) I find it best to take just to take a mini vacation everyday. Either a bubble bath or maybe just 5 mins where you can think about being on the beach with a nice cocktail watching the waves crash in. Well, that's my extremely youthful non experience advice hehe
