Sleep restoreth the soul.

Posted by beardedlady on May 30, 2002, at 5:31:15

Thank you all for your helpful suggestions and good wishes. Last night was a lovely little restless, sleeping pill-less night of seven hours. I feel refreshed and envigorated. (And the anxiety from the previous three nights resulted in a two-pound loss when I weighed in at Weight Watchers. Yea! Just 10 to go.)

(Alii, you're suggestion wasn't dumb. Have you weighed yourself lately? I sent you two pounds. Thanks for the offer to take them!)

Beardy,

I gladly accept your two pounds and raise you another few. Consider this a dare to send more!

So nice to read you got some sleep. Hurrah.

Dear Beardy,

I must have given you my sleep, b/c I certainly haven't been getting it lately. Didn't doze off til 3:30 this morning. Perhaps I should read the responses to your earlier posts more thoroughly.

Glad to hear you're rested...

Love, Penny

Glad you're feeling better! (nm)

Bearded Person,

I prefer the ENvigorated in this case, just as you did. Why? it has to do with the EN being more of an act of personal will. Does this sound plausible? Your taking the bull by the horns, so to speak, with the insomnia. (Notice not ENsomnia.) And a nice shower has more of a sense of being INvigorating. I don't know if this is backed up by lexicographical findings, but that's the way it appears to me.

Seven hours of sleep sounds like heaven. I almost never get that much. My sleep patterns are pretty shabby these days... get awake late at night, stay up till 2 or 3 (but sleepy that night I wrote that long note to you, and didn't click on the submit button... ARRRRGGGHHH!) And I feel terribly guilty, because I've talked and talked to the therapist about better "sleep hygiene," but I can never put the suggestions into practice. I think as a mother, I relish the quiet time (hold the mustard) alone at night. So then up at 6:30 am to get the kid-nik off to school and most days go to work (teaching schoolchildren). So 4 hours of sleep, sometimes 5. Last night, with the boyfriend, about 7 hours. This is why sex is good for us, you just go out like a LIGHT afterwards.

So the cure? Sex every evening, I say! Too bad we have to put up with all the shenanigans, though, to get it. But that, dear, is the subject of another post (see 2001 Board, nobody took meup on the Mr. Congeniality thread, which was initially a response to Dreamer's [CtrlAlt n Del's] fear of getting into a relationship theme... Hint: I'M LOOKING FOR ANSWERS, HERE, CHICAS!)

You WILL hear more from me,

Wendy

With MY husband? Or can I pick? No, I'm just kidding. But sex has ALWAYS made me more awake. Orgasms energize me. I used to get up for an hour after sex and watch Letterman.

LOL...I am glad to see I am not the only one this happens to. Though I will admit many times I drop off like a baby to sleep. But those are usually the morning time roms we share on the weekend mornings. Kinda Mama and Papa's time out from Kiddo, who thankfully now at nearly 9 y/o can keep himself amused long enough for us to take the time for *Us*

Blessings,
RhainyC
