Question About PB Open

Posted by Mair on March 8, 2002, at 21:42:45

I just tried to get into the PB Open chat room and thought I was there, but every time I tried to send a message I got a note that said something like "general chat error, try again." Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I've never tried to participate in a chat before.

Mair,

You may not be doing anything wrong. Yahoo has it's idiosyncracies. Sometimes you just need to try again a few minutes or a few hours later.

General Chat Error

When this happens to me, I go over to the side menu and click on "chat" again. This refreshes the chat, and it usually works, but then yahoo is known to be a royal pain in the neck.

Look forward to chatting!

I want to catch you all so badly, and I'm just horrible at it.

Let me know when you're going to be on next if you can and I'll try again.

Hope you're O.K.

How are you? I tried to reply to this yesterday but my connection was So Slow.

That's a good ? - let's but a call out to Wendy. I have not heard from her in a long time. I hope that signals that she is doing well.

How do you feel? I think of you often b/c of your connection to Saugerties.

I know what you mean..... mine is here also. In fact, I posted a post to you..... but I can't find it..... mabye it was the time everything was archived?!

Oh... I hope she's well also. You guys helped me out a lot!

I'm doing ok I guess. Thanks for asking. I'm pretty much done with my surgeries... at least for a while. I did make the mistake of watching(on the discovery channel).. what the surgery entails in fixing it. The skin grafting and stuff. Now I don't know if I even want to take the chance. Really scary. Everything is all held in court..... could be for years. The pain is ok..... I quit painkillers altogether... they were really messin' with me and I've been on them all too long! Withdrawal was rough. So now the pain was back..... and I'm trying to deal with it. I guess it's going ok.

Unfortunately tho..... I broke my leg. I was in a car accident in 99 and broke it original. Now I have some stress fractures. I'm just a medical mishap.

How are things with you hon? Give me the run down if ya feel up to it..... I'm really bad at going thru the archives. Love ya..... and thanks for responding. Take care of yourself... please. Kristi

You seem to drift in and out so quickly. I'm glad you're back. I've been thinking about you a lot this last week because my secretary has been on vacation all week in your fair city. I'm wondering how she's faring since she hates the heat.

What's up (or not up) with your case? At what stage are you and why do you think that it will be years before things are resolved? This has been going on for awhile already hasn't it?

I'm sorry to hear about your leg. It seems like you're determined to keep every MD in vegas busy.

Hey sweetie! I know, I've become a drifter. I lurk all the time.. but there are so many unfamiliar "faces"..... I feel like if I respond they'll think "who the heck is this?" :-)
Don't worry... your secretary is fine. It's been unusually cold this week!!!!

Not a whole lot happening with my case. I have to go next week to have some consults with 2 doctors(that work with my lawyer)... I'm kind of in a tough situation right now... they are trying to pass a law in nevada that limits what you can receieve in a medical malpractice suit to $200,000. Because of the lawsuits.. the doctors have such rising insurance costs they are threatening to move. It's a huge drawn out thing. Anyway, we have a lien on the doctors assets(altho rumor has it she may have left town.. )..... and a court date set for April 29, 2004. Long wait.

Kristi:

I know what you mean by the new faces. I was a new face once, but it seemed like folks joined more slowly then. Now there are many new faces, which of course, adds to the diversity which is good. But it is a different feel.

Please feel free to email me at doghappy@ivillage.com if you ever want an update about Saugerties and the area. I'm looking for a small farm in the area now, without much luck thus far.

Take care.

Seems like a pretty screwy judicial system when cases are set for trial 2 years out. This was filed awhile ago wasn't it? Unfortunately with this kind of scheduling, there's probably not alot of inducement for the insurance company to settle sooner than later. They get the use of the money in the meantime.

I assume that any new laws wouldn't apply to cases that have already been filed, right? Usually laws like that do not operate retroactively. The docs are all keen on laws like this and the republicans love to blame almost every societal ill on trial lawyers.
You said you had a lien on the doc's assets. Is that because your attorneys expect a verdict in excess of her coverage, or was she actually uninsured? I sincerely hope not the latter.

I wish this could move along more quickly for you. Your's is about as deserving a case as I've heard.

It's nice of you to ask about me. I went into a mid-winter swoon about 6 weeks ago - one of those depressions where you really can't tell whether you're going to come out of it in a week, or whether you're at the beginning of a pretty major episode that's going to just get worse and worse. My therapist decided I needed to treat it like I had the flu or something and take some time off from work to try to break whatever cycle I was settling into. I think I'd have really gotten depressed if I just sat around my house looking at the bleak countryside. My sweet spouse came up with the idea of having me visit a good friend in Fla. It worked pretty well - my friend was working most of the 5 days i was there, so I just hung out at her house and slept alot and read books - definitely quantity over quality. I was trying to adjust to some different levels of my meds and get my sleep cycle back on track and it was nice not to have to do that in the context of trying to work and take care of my family. I was pretty fortunate that timing-wise I was able to take the time and the plan turned out to be a good one. I've had some ups and downs since i got back but overall I'm in much better shape. I think a few years ago she could've made this kind of suggestion and I would have come up with 5 different reasons why I couldn't go - I don't think my circumstances have changed that much but think I've come to appreciate that I can't risk having small depressions turn into bigger ones.

BTW there's lots of people who visit regularly who'd never forget you so don't worry about jumping back in.

Mair

PS Are you still not smoking?
