Valentine Hater's Club For Men

With my ADHD, I can be looking for one thing & switch to something completely different. In reading up on something about the brain, I managed to multi-link to this site & found it a good laugh. I think guys will really understand.

A Valentine I can Live With

I (a female) can also be a cynic from the bottom of my heart about the holidays being commercialized, and sometimes don't have the energy to get holiday stuff together!

Anyhow, here's one of my favorite quotes for V-Day:

you fit into me
like a hook into an eye

a fish hook
an open eye

Margaret Atwood

That quote from Atwood is funny & sad at the same time, sure sums it up about my ex & me. (I'm female too though few people seem to get it from my posts. ...????)

I wish I had a way with words like some do here. I can always express myself well but I'm not lyrical at all. I'd get *top* marks for my writings - but they're all more essay-style. I have 2 sons who I know could become writers if they tried. Even when they were in school, their literature teachers used to save their stuff & ask permission to let others read it.

Not me....damn! I'm good at dry, technical writing only.

Perhaps this is a good time to admit that I'm so jealous of all of you who have managed to find some kind of romance in your lives. One of the upsides to my depression diagnosis a year ago is that I can at least feel normally abnormal. For me trust is a huge issue, and one that (I believe) still keeps me from getting close to people. So more power to those of you who have been able to have releationships (marriage or otherwise) in the midst of depression. I'm amazed at your fortitude.

Oh, the upshot is that I don't really think about Valentine's Day one way or another. (Though I do love those little candy hearts with the mottos.)

Resident sweet TOOTH,
Paula

Well, I do, Mark H., I do love you. If I remember correctly I asked you to marry me at one time! But then you disappeared!

You know how they are, one moment they're outgoing and affectionate and demonstrative and witty and you can hardly get a word in edgewise, and then the next thing you know they can't write their own name and they're changing aisles at the grocery store to avoid having to say "hello" to you because they haven't changed their clothes in three days. :-)

I love you, too, Shar.
