NEED HELP!!!!!!

Posted by kellyR. on August 21, 2001, at 4:29:27

I havn't been on the board for a long time, I had somewhat of a break down. I Have schizoaffective disorder I was in the hospital in Jan. and haven't felt like doing much since then,I've been back to work since july 13 but now I'm starting to feel like it's coming back (depressing, hearing voices, wanting to kill myself). I'm scared to call my pdoc because he might want me back in the hospital again, I'm scared of what they well think at work if i go back in the hospital for the 3rd time since i've been working there. need help!!!

Kelly, I obviously don't know your history, so I can only offer some off-hand comments. First of all, you need to be healthy, to hell with what the rest of the world thinks about you! If you feel that you need to get more treatment, and especially if you are having suicidal ideations, then I would call you Pdoc or go to ER now. I know from my own experiences that sometimes it seems as if the whole world is collapsing upon you, and the "easiest and best" way is to take yourself out. Now, I don't know if you have any family or not, but that has always been the factor that made me realize I would be selfish to leave them with that kind of legacy. Today is its own worry, tomorrow you may feel entirely different. Next year the ultimate cure for your disorder may be discovered. Stay the course, keep running the race.

I will join with you and Paxvox in this race called life. I am going to wear a coolmax top and those shorts that flap around when running.

Now, keep in mind, I donot run, really. I do wimpy exercises in the pool with lots of gray haired ladies (and one guy) So this will need to be a run in cyber space.

Get the help you need. Demand it. If you broke your leg, you'd be off to the doctor with out a thought. This is the same, kind of, thing.

Still going through a very bad depressive episode, and hesitating to call my pdoc along the way, I can kind of understand (though a different situation work wise). Do try to get up the gumption to call. I think it's the hardest when you're feeling the worst, and the most necessary. You may just need a slight med adjustment!

Kelly

Calling your pdoc does not mean that you will be hospitalized. Getting help before things get worse, like everyone said is important. It may be as simple as changing the dosage of your medication.

Some of us need more care than others. Does your work know about your illness? Are you working full-time?

Please call your doctor he/she will be able to give you the best advice. Keep in touch!

Kelly,

When I saw your name pop up on this board I thought that it had been a long time since we heard from you. I was hoping that you were doing better. Weren't you doing better on Zyprexa with the voices?

Your number one concern should be your mental health - otherwise there will be nothing else left. Hospital stays and no income are very trying experiences but they are better than hearing voices and being suicidal. You need to get back to your pdoc with your emergency situation.

Please do that. We always hope and expect for the best for our PB Family. You are definitely a part of this family even though you've been away for awhile. Get to the doctor and while you are at it please try to bring your husband at least once. Maybe the doctor can explain to him in plain terms what you are going through. I know how tough it can be without proper spousal support.

Take care of yourself first,
Chris
