So Willow, on a serious note, why do you want to take a break from PB? Do you really think you are addicted? Is it harming your life in some fashion?

First it depends on what you consider addiction vs withdrawal, but we will not carry over the effexor debate to our social board.

I'll give a little bio of myself, (... gees it feels good to talk about oneself, a real conversation with a friend they keep cutting in with stuff about themselves, here I just hit the disconnect and ramble on ...)I'm a 34 year old wife, with three children aged 5 -7 - and 10, who just had her 15th wedding anniversary. This is my second marriage, the first one is what I have nightmares about.

So here's my dilema. I never really dated that much. And I find myself right now in a situation where I have a mad crush on a certain poster. Duh! It's crazy I don't even know the person.

With all that aside, I'm pretty much housebound with this heat. I'm just trying to sidetrack. It has nothing to do with the heat. What I really want is my cake!! I would like to have a wild summer romance and then once fall starts come back home. Not in reality though!

I'm screwed! Not literally though ...

And where the hell are you Kazoo????????
What have you done to me?????????

Okay I'm going back to bed ...

Willow,

Are you in counseling? The reason I ask is, if you are, did you ever get a crush on your counselor? I was just thinking last night how I am finding myself with a slight crush towards a poster on babble. I wonder if it is similar to having a crush on a counselor? And I wonder if it will pass the same way? With time. So then the questions are, do we just ignore it? Probably. Sure won't be able to act on it - too much distance involved here. Write about it - like journaling writing. Live it out a little fantasy in our mind? Will that hurt? I don't know. I haven't had a good schoolgirl crush in sometime. Part of that is I lack any libido to have a "real" crush (those messy physical aspects of a crush are an important part, I believe!). Anyway, just some ramblings.

Please, others join in this conversation.

Elvis.

No my psych sounds too much like my brother on the phone. Or maybe it is his personality or the therapy process that reminds me of my brother. But I guess you get the point, Agh no way! Now my new gp who is younger than me I would like to ... Good grief maybe I'm just an over-sexed housewife!!

*I was just thinking last night how I am finding myself with a slight crush towards a poster on babble.

WHO???

But MasterCard can make things happen.

The part that is bothering me is that there probably is an issue that I should be discussing with my psych in order to get some guidance or insight into it, but I really don't want to discuss it outloud. Maybe with time?

Where does the Elvis come from? From the KC band thing? Couldn't you be someone like Cyndi Lauper or a Spice Girl instead?

Willow, I've heard that women's hormones go on a rush beginning in spring; for men it begins in fall.

Read *Wifey* by Judy Blume. I read it in the eighth grade at the beginning of my self-corruption.

My therapist says that it is always with time - when you are ready, it will happen. So don't fret too much.

Cyndi Lauper, yes. Spice Girl, not in this life time!

Much more likely to be Melissa Ethridge!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I haven't forgotten you, my dear.

I've been allowing myself time to mourn and grieve the SUICIDE of my friend's 23 year old son on July 18. The family lives up the road from me and the young man did this deed not too far from my home. I haven't been quite the same since this represents the third self-inflicted death in that same family in the past 20 years. What are the chances of that happening?

So, out of respect for the family, I have been quiet and reserved. You would think I'd be inured to this sort of thing by now, but you never are. It's all the more reason why I celebrate life each and every day no matter how badly things are, or may be, or will be.

Peace and peaches to you, dearest Willow ... there's much happiness for you to enjoy in the next breath you take.

Fondly,

kazoo

This may have truth to it because when I went on the effexor last fall my other half had no complaints. By now I'm starting to feel a little neglected or either perhaps there is something worped about me. So I guess I should hang in there for another couple of months for the moment to "arise."

> Read *Wifey* by Judy Blume. I read it in the eighth grade at the beginning of my self-corruption.

Gosh I must be slow! "Are you there God it's me Margaret" I read in seventh grade but quickly progressed to "Wifey" by the tenth. Have you read "Summer Sisters?" I enjoyed it! I don't think I've read "Smart Women."

Here's a link to her booklists. She's a great author, mostly children's books. I've read some with my children.

dear Willow,

thanks for the Blume link! I've read just about all of her books, I'm crazy about the woman--afterall, she's the one who taught me about so many hush-hush topics. I did read Summer Sisters but didn't like it nearly as well as Smart Women. now that's a damn good book.

i believe *are you there god? it's me, margaret* must be her magnum opus. And after that...mmmm...the Peter Hatcher/Fudge stories? OR, what was the one in which the fifteen year-old girl loses her virginity?

all props to Ms. Blume.

Forever.

The name of the book is Forever, it finally dawned on me.

Last night over wine listening to music I lamented choosing Are You There, God? as her magnum opis.

she has a lot of magnum opii:

Starring Sally J. Freidman as Herself
Deenie
Tiger Eyes

I should write her a thank-you letter.

Let me know what you think of Smart Women! I love talking about books.

Willow,

The girl was 15 or so and her father had been murdered, so her mother took her & her younger bro to live w/ their aunt & uncle in Los Alamos, New Mexico. A nuclear hick town where the girl (Davy) falls in love w/ some hot older Mexican guy and deals with her depression over her dead father.

Very emotional book. Any Blume is easy & short enough to read in a sitting or 2. Worth the investment.

She has actually been banned from some libraries. I don't exactly understand why, perhaps because her fiction paints reality. I guess some people aren't comfortable with children and reality. In stages that each child is capable of understanding and dealing with I don't think this is a bad thing. Though I read her books when I was younger, perhaps it isn't should a good thing? (bad joke - not fair to Ms. Blume)

I guess it depends on the individual child. Though I believe if they ask for answers they should be truthful, though at a level the child will understand and be able to digest emotionally as well as intellectually.

Like yourself, I don't think there are any straight forward anwsers.
