Kelly, please do what you need to do to live and get better so that you might actually be able to be there for your husband in the future. He might not understand now, but if you don't do what you need to do to get better (go to the hospital) now, he will understand when it is too late! Look in a phone book and call a helpline.

I also found this online. I'm not sure of its affiliation and there might even be one on Dr. Bob's link page: http://www.suicidehotlines.com/

Kelly, besides keeping you alive, a hospital stay would give the doctors a chance to work on new medications, so that suicidal feelings would not be an issue. You don't need your husband's permission--go for you. Shellie

Kelly,

Go to the hospital for yourself. It is the only safe place right now and you will get much more intense help than you could if you stayed home.

While you're there ask one of the therapists to sit down with you and your husband to explain what you have been going through. They can make him understand that it's not something that you just snap out of or tough it out. Depression is a very serious disease and needs to be treated that way.

Also most Psych hospitals will give you programs to help you better deal with your depression and anxiety.

I haven't been hospitalized in the last 3 years but when I was there it was the safest place I could be. I also met my current pdoc when I was in the last time and he has helped me a great deal.

You need the help and the rest now. Please go so that we will know that you are safe.

Chris

Kelly, I agree.

If you are at the end of your rope, then you should go to the hospital. Perhaps your pdoc, or one of the clinicians at the emergency room, can help explain to your husband why this is necessary.

What is it that your husband is averse to about your going into the hospital. Is taking care of the kids an issue? If so, there has to be someone around who can help out while you are in the hospital. Maybe someone from church? A relative? A neighbor?

Please take good care of yourself.

The Q is: Do YOU want to go? » kellyR.

Kelly,
Get thee to the hospital. I know it will be hard for you, and create some disruption in the family, etc., but if YOU believe it is time to go, GO.

Go now. Right now. Dammit, I want you to care about you enough to GO to the hospital!! Screw anyone else. You know yourself, do what is right for you!

xoxo
Shar

I think he doesn't want me to go because of the money, kids being picked up at school & daycare.

But it not getting anywhere w/ him or my pdoc,I called my pdoc today & he blamed it on my period(men). So my pdoc asked if I could hold on til thursday when i see him & talk abouted then.I give up

Kelly,

Only you know if you can hold on or not. If not, go immediately to the emergency room.

My pastor from church called me today to see how I was doing,we've talked before about my problems & he does help, sometime better then my pdoc,he was in the hospital for schizophrenia a couple of years ago. so he very good to talk to about they thing so I asked if I could see him tomarrow.maybe he can help me.
