TMJ with a side of carpal tunnel...

Posted by CarolAnn on October 4, 2000, at 10:49:28

here's a test, when you gently close your jaws all the way, are your back teeth aligned & touching? mine have moved beyond separation and are now considering divorce!
now mister right wrist has gone on strike, so here's my life: can't eat, but still managing to gain weight via the 'necessity' of milk shakes for nourishment!
can't type, so can't 'talk'(write), except one left fingered letter at a time, yet am compulsive & co-dependent enough to "have" to make sure everyone knows why I've been absent!
luckily, can still read, so will keep "lurking", that is, if my eyes don't decide to join the dysfunctional band wagon! CarolAnn

Carol Ann:

When I see TMJ I always think "thermo-nuclear jaw" ?

I don't know much about TMJ, but I think carpal tunnel can be managed as long as you will take proactive steps, like making sure you are ergonomically correct (and you can rig things, it doesn't have to come from "Offices r Us").

And, I believe there are exercises one can do. I have a friend who is a Master recorder player (the Renaissance instrument) and makes her living teaching. She is starting to get carpal tunnel. What a drag!

I hope you can get some info before the one finger gives out!

My eyes are already trying (vision is 20/200 and things get blurrier every year).

Good luck,
Shar
