i don't go to therapy again for over a week! :(

Posted by hansonfan on October 6, 2010, at 22:50:00

how do you guys deal with the time in between sessions when you're really stressed out? i try so hard to talk to my friends/roommates about things i'm worried about in between sessions, but no one wants to talk about them with me. mostly, i think, because i want to talk about fears that i have about the world and about God, and no one around me really wants to talk about depressing topics. it just seems so long between sessions for me because i'm stuck with these horrible feelings and thoughts that i can't tell to anyone except my therapist. and i've tried. my college is a kind of school where during the week, everyone has SO MUCH work to do, and then on the weekends/nights everyone just wants to have fun. so i feel like even when i try to bring things up to my best friends, they don't want to hear it. they always try to change the subject. sometimes i write things down to take to my therapist the next week (i see her every two weeks), but i get so lonely when i think that i still have a week until i get to see her again.

i'm sorry that this turned out so long, haha. sorry about that, it's pretty annoying.

ask your therapist if you can see her once a week. that might help.

I agree with Annierose. If you could schedule to see her more often, that might be helpful. But if not, maybe blogging or posting might be more helpful than journaling?

I think I very often post here about therapy between sessions, and it's more helpful than a journal because the input of others helps me work things out in my mind.

Not the really sensitive stuff I suppose. Our internet presence follows us everywhere in life.

I journal in between sessions, especially when I am stressing out about something. Then when I get ready for the next session, I pick out the most important things that came out of the journaling and bring them to the session to talk about. I don't do this as much now as I used to, but it certainly would help me through those long times in between sessions. And you're not alone - posting can help too. Lots of people share your feelings here.
