*DR BOB will send your posts to TWITTER unless u *

stop him by posting your name on this thread

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/admin/20090529/msgs/903760.html

this is the "Opt out thread". opt out now, or anything you post can be posted to everyone on Twitter.

He won't post identifying info (like email address etc of course) just condensed content of posts. But if you don't want that on Twitter, stop him but posting on the thread above. He won't use your posts if you opt out.

Bay

Thanks for the heads up. Twitter is too much for me right now. I don't like my posts being abled to be googled much less him using them to post as he chooses.

This whole thing is too much.

He won't tweet you if you ask him not to on that Admin thread.

I appreciate his giving us the heads up and the ability to opt out.

I'm not sure I'd be that global in my appreciation. But it was better than doing it without announcing it. And without respecting the wishes of those who wish to opt out.

In fact, what I particularly appreciate was his openness to the idea of respecting those who wish to opt out.

We can suggest to him that he announce it more prominently. I suspect that he doesn't see this in the same way as some posters do. He sees it more as another format to present Babble in, from what I gather. Like the RSS feeds? So he might not understand the desirability of announcing it on all boards unless we point it out to him.

I see your point, and I do think it would have been best if he'd posted one of his notices that automatically appears at the top of each board. I wish I'd thought to remind/ask him to do that right away. Sometimes, believe it or not (and I understand some don't) with Dr. Bob I think it's forgetfulness rather than any sort of callousness or worse. Deputies try to remember things to help him out in that way, but we all fall short there at times, too.

At the same time, I agree with Dinah's sentiment about what he did do (agree not to use them). It made me feel more respected. I guess I'm trying to concentrate more on what to be grateful for, instead of what's lacking....not just in how I wish Dr. Bob would handle certain things, but across the board (yikes - bad pun alert!) in my life. It helps me cope.

A far as I know, he did only use one line each from posts by SLS, Tabitha and Amelia. Granted, I don't know his future intentions or if he communicated with some, all or none of those posters before twittering excerpts.

Thx Bay (nm)
