Oh no - not that!

Posted by Daisym on June 11, 2008, at 0:35:52

Every summer there are things that crop up that I think, "only when it is hot!" For me, there are two noise-makers that only happen in the summer.

For whatever reason, the garden crew seems to only arrive when I'm in session on Monday or Thursday. They run the blower machine to clean the parking lot, or mow the lawn. So we have to close the windows and then it is so hot. Or I have to talk really loud - and I swear everytime I do that they turn the darn machines off so I'm shouting suddenly..."AND THAT JUST SUCKED!" Yeah, that is what you want to blast out.

The other thing is this cat. It sits down below and meows and meows and sometimes the women in the office downstairs come out and talk to it. Imagine me, in tears and hearing, "what is it you need? What are you trying to tell us?" If they only knew...

Anything happen only in the summer for you?

Cubs games = sucky traffic.

My T's seersucker suit that never fails to startle me.

And it used to mean short-sleeved shirts and the occasional glimpse of his tattoo, but ever since I told him I noticed, he seems to only wear long sleeves. Go figure.

Well, so far, being completely drenched in sweat during our sessions, as my therapist appears not to have air conditioning in his office. I walk two miles there so when it's really hot I'm already sweaty when I get there, too. It's a little awkward.

Whoa, nice. What was the tattoo?

I teach, so summer always means blank, empty time, which causes me terrible anxiety. Defining your self-worth by your career tends to lead to that, I guess :)

I hate heat and Chicago humidity. I can't exercise outside unless I get up at some ungodly hour, and being in the gym day after day depresses me.

On the other hand, if I can scrape together the money, it might mean taking myself on a vacation, which I've been wanting to do for a long time but couldn't because of jobs/boyfriends/therapy.

Great to see you back here, Laurie. :)

It's a shame about the long sleeves. I'm sure he didn't do it because of you. He probably just realized that his tattoo was visible and might send a message to some of his clients. Having somehow overlooked that before. :)

It's a shame though.

My therapist has taken to picking at his arms, as well as his nails, lately. I'd like to see him wear long sleeves and gloves. I'm ready to shout at him to leave his f*cking nails alone already!

I worry about the window washers coming by midsession. I've seen them up there, but as luck would have it, they never passed his window while I was there. That would be impossibly distracting.

There's a loud lady next door to his office. You can occasionally hear her talk and often hear her laugh. This of course makes me talk softer for fear she hears me. And my therapist gets distracted by the laugh. It apparently drives him crazy.

That's year long though, not just in summer.

Mine jiggles her foot back and forth a lot during silences. It drives me nuts. If she's uncomfortable with the f*cking silence, why the f*ck doesn't she fill it, like I've asked her to?

Whatever.

>Dear Daisy: I thought I was the only one who HATED Summer. I live near Detroit....humid, heat, thunder storms, UCK!

Fall is my favorite time of year (still bright and sunny, but cool with no humidity....Born in Heaven (Maine), now in exile in the flatlands!

my T didn't wear socks today. He had on boat shoes (are those called dockers?) and khakis and a lovely summery cotton shirt. Smashing. He has shapely ankles, I suppose...

i SMELL!
i sweat so much when i get nervous. and i seem to freak out sometimes before session. worrying about which topic i'm going to talk about, if i'm going to have enough time...etc. and plus i work most day first and then go to session. so toward end of my work day. so i seem to smell...to me anyway.

i think i need to bring deodorant in my car???

*****************

also i usually hate summer cuz everyone wears shorts and i HATE wearing shorts, (well, i don't wear shorts..unless i'm at home, inside) and tanks cuz i hate my body. so im used to wearing long sleeves, or short sleeves with a jacket or sweater, i'm more comfortable that way.

so i pray every time that her office is cold so i can wear my jacket.

*****************

my T and others in her office sometimes have thermostat wars she likes it a certain temperature, sometimes i go in and its really hot, she will go out to turn it cooler, sometimes its really cold, and she'll go out to turn it warmer....
hehe sometimes kinda funny. to know that everyone has roomates/officemates they can't always see eye to eye with. :^)

i like my T.

It's a band of some sort around his upper arm. Interestingly enough, he wore a short-sleeved shirt the other day. I swear, it's like the first time in over a year or something. I couldn't see the tattoo, though.

Thanks, Dinah! I'm not sure how "back" I am. It just seems so hard to post now. I don't know what happened or changed. Maybe it's just my schedule and routines now that N is a little older? I miss it here, though.

He might have realized that it was visible when I told him it was visible. ;) That made for some interesting conversations...

Oh my. I don't think I could handle that. I complained to my T a few weeks ago that he was pulling on his ear a lot. I don't like when they do anything that might indicate they are nervous or unsettled for some reason.
