Really sad

Posted by sunnydays on August 6, 2007, at 20:41:46

I miss my T. I cannot believe he's not here. And he was going to leave stuff at the front desk for me to pick up, but he forgot. I got the stuff, because the secretary had found it in the copier and put it aside, but still. That's just sort of my T, though. He's a little forgetful about stuff like that - it's not really a big deal.

I have to call him tomorrow and I'm so scared. What if he doesn't remember I was going to call him and doesn't answer? He didn't forget last vacation, I just worry is all.

I feel so sad. I miss him. I hope he's having a good vacation, but I miss him.

Then he most likely will not forget this time, either. I hate to be blunt, but maybe you are torturing yourself just a little here.
If you have to give him a gentle reminder as to why you're calling, then you may have to. We have to do it with others in our lives at times, so think of it as good "practice", and hopefully that will lessen the anxiety a bit for you.

Well, he didn't quite forget. He went to copy it. :) He just forgot to finish.

He won't forget why you called either. Although if he's as forgetful as mine, it's just as well you're calling him and not vice versa. lol. Did I tell you about the time we had scheduled a phone session, and he XXX'd out my name and forgot to tell me?

It'll be ok, really. He'll come back and surely he must have used up his vacation for a while.

Uggghhh.... now you sound like my T! :) He's always telling me things will be good for me when I don't want to do them. I detest calling people. I'm sure he'll remember why I'm calling once he picks up, I'm just worried of catching him off-gaurd if he forgets to expect my call.

I try not to have these thoughts, but I can't seem to get rid of them. I wish he were here. I miss him so much. What is it I miss, though? Just his presence, I guess. Knowing that someone cares about me. Knowing someone will be there to help me if I'm having a hard time. Knowing that someone knows me more deeply than anyone has ever known me before, even myself. Knowing that he won't hurt me or reject me, no matter what I say (well, I suppose maybe there could be something I could say, but nothing I'd realistically ever say). Knowing there's someone that truly has my best interests in mind, even when I don't have my best interests in mind.

Wow, maybe I should tell that stuff to my T. I've never been able to think up that stuff that clearly and articulately before. Thanks Maria!

Thanks Dinah. Yeah, I know he just forgot to take that small step of walking it to the front desk from the copier.

As far as having used up his vacation - I don't think he'll be going on vacation soon, but he's self-employed in the summer, so he can take as much vacation as he wants. He only works for the university during the school year.

Thanks for replying Dinah. Made me smile. :)

I would definitely tell your T all those great things you said about him in your reply! He will also get more insight as to why you miss him so much, and as to why he means so much to you. Those were some really wonderful thoughts you have about him. =)

You've articulated that much better than I could. I always just say that he's magic.

Hang in there, I know how you feel. I miss mine as soon as I walk out the door! No kidding. There have been times when I wasn't like that, but lately I have been.

We are supposed to "take them with us" they say, but that is much easier said than done. My T has explained to me a few times about people in his life that he has been close to, professionally or personally, and now that they are not with him he says he " takes them with him...". If we could do that, why would we need to keep going to T????

Hope the time flies and you see him again soon.

Sunny, it is a big deal, though, that he promised to leave things for you and forgot. I don't mean that you should be mad at him, but it still is a big deal.

When someone promises to do something, especially something special and important, and forgets, that's a big deal. At least it is to me.

Maybe this isn't the time to think about it, but in the future, you might be able to say to him, if he does this again, that it is raising your hopes and disappointing you, and that it matters.

I'm sorry that you've been so sad; and I'm very glad you have the things he meant you to have. When does he come back?

Thanks everyone. We talked. He had messed up the time I was supposed to call (he thought it was 4, but I know it was 4:30 because I don't get out of work until 4) so he was worried when I called. And I was really anxious about calling him. But it was good to talk to him and know he's still there. Not a terrific, warm and fuzzy phone call, but not horrible. And I know he's alive.

He said he hopes his vacation gets better. One of his kids has an ear infection and got stung by a hornet yesterday. I hope his vacation gets better too, but I'm not going to worry about it. I have a tendency to worry about things like that, although I don't tell him I worry about stuff like that, so he wouldn't need it.
