We had T under a tree!

Posted by muffled on June 1, 2007, at 22:53:20

And talked quite happily.
Wasn't that a sight to see.
Sitting there her and me.
As happy as could be.
An oak tree,
In the shade,
I could wear my shades!!!!!
Hidden.
HA!

Very interesting, Muffled. Was it easier or harder than therapy in her office?

I've asked my T to have therapy with me next week at a picnic table outside at the church where her office is. She has agreed. I'm hoping it will help break the stalemate of our recent disagreement about how safe her office is. I'm still not feeling connected to her and I am desperate to try something to reestablish it. I thought of you saying in the past that sometimes you and your T take walks and decided to go for the outside. That way I can see if anyone is around, trying to listen.

Thanks for sharing, Muffled. Hope you have a great weekend.

hope it goes well TG. Being outside is real nice. In the open is better. I like walking too, cuz moving makes me more relaxed. Walking is private too, cuz people could only hear a part of convo when they walk by. Harder to concentrate though, but good for relationship building though.
Under the tree was FANTASTIC. Open and there was even road noise to distract my brain. I could see in all directions.
Did your T ever get one of those noise machines, they reallly do work great .
If you want I can ask my T bout the noise machine, why they use it etc. and then you can pass it onto your T if she still not getting it.
Take care,
M

Hi Muffled,

I would love to have therapy under a tree. There's nothing within walking distance of my T's office, though I suppose we could meet at a tree so to speak. Maybe if I was her last appointment?
I'll have to ask and see if she gives me a *you are really nuts* look.

You're right, Muffled -- my T is still not getting it. We had another argument Thurs. night, followed by teary eyes (hers, not mine, because I think she's finally getting as frustrated as I am).

T isn't fun, doesn't feel safe and doesn't feel supportive right now. I'm hanging in there in the hopes that it will get better again. But I've never had an issue that she had this much trouble getting on board with. And she's still trying to "argue" me out of it, which has never worked for me. It's like she's suddenly forgotten the 22 years of experience she has with me.

I like the way you talk about being outside and hope this will help the two of us. That would be great for you to ask your T about the noise machine. Thanks!

Your T is wonderful to allow you to do this. I don't think for a min. my T would leave her office for therapy. She did come to my house last November after I had both my knee surgeries and couldn't drive for 6 weeks. She came to the hospital to visit me too. It was nice but it wasn't therapy. It was in her words, "keeping in touch".
I bet it seems nice to have a T that is so willing to work together with your needs.
Under a tree sounds great.

Ladybug i thin k your T sounds great too.
Keeping in touch is important. And mebbe she were keeping her eye on you :-) thats nice.
Maybe she would surprize you.
I went to T thru govt mental health years ago, and she went out and walked with me too. And that was after only a few sessions.
Then I showed up drunk and obnoxious(mebbe not the first time? they booted me and LOCKED me out!) and she dumped me. I am sure it was well desreved, I wouldn't work with a client that I feared either.
Oh well.
Gotta a goodun now :-)
Thanks LB, hope your doing OK.
