Difficulting contacting T

Posted by cubic_me on February 16, 2007, at 17:06:57

I had my 3rd therapy session with my pdoc 3 weeks ago. 2 weeks ago we were due for another appointment, but when I got there she had called in sick, so I left my number for her to call and arrange another appointment. After a week no-one had called, then my phone got water damaged and I've had to change (which took 3 days). Since then I've been trying to ring her office (as they wouldn't have my new number) but on the dozen occasions I've tried, on different days/times, no-one has answered and there's no answer machine. I hate phoning people anyway, so each time I try it's anxiety provoking. I've checked the number, and looked it up on the internet and it's definately correct - I can't find another number to call.

I could take time off work to go there and speak to someone through their intercom (which I also hate), or write a letter via snail mail (I don't have her email), but both seem a bit wierd. What would you do?

It seems very weird to me that there is no answering machine - has it always been that way? Are you letting it ring long enough?

I'd send a note in the mail. I can't see me showing up in person. But that is just me.

I hope you find her soon.

I've never needed to ring before (I've only been 3 times so far, and the first appointment was arranged through my family doctor and sent through the post). I've let it ring and ring, but no answer.

I think I might do the same!

Thanks, so do I!

Now resolved...ish

I recieved a letter yesterday saying that she had been ill and had to have an operation, so we won't be able to have another appointment for a month or so. She said if I'd like a med check I can phone up for an appointment with someone else, and she's happy to resume therapy when she gets back and will send another appt.

It's a little bit frustrating, but no-one's fault and I'm sure I'll wait fine. I've been going through a rough time and probably wouldn't have been able to talk about much anyway.
