NOT being in the pit

Posted by muffled on January 29, 2007, at 17:07:43

I was thinking.
When you NOT in the pit, then its hard to really imagine the pit. The utterness of it.
However, I can know its a very bad thing, and know that it can be utter, but fortunately don't seem to feel it in that way.
I think having been in the pit, more than once, and having occasional drop in reminders, is partly why i got hope. Cuz no matter how sh*tty some stuff feels to me, its nothing to the pit.
And I think thats a gift from the pit.
So those of you still in the pit.
Well, I got out, and it was SO bad, but I got out, and I here, and alive, and I got hope.
Ya, lotsa bad sh*t, but now I not in pit much, well, its not so bad.
(((((((((to the ones in the pit))))))))))
I pray for light so yous can find your ways out, cuz its so good to not be there.

Yes muffled, I've noticed that too. I've had a fairly good day today and already part me of cant imagine how I felt yesterday, although I'm fairly sure it'll be back tomorrow. I think it's an automatic defense mechanism our body sets up. Otherwise itd just be impossible to come out of, always being so intensely aware of what was coming. You're very right.

I've never had children, but I always hear that you dont remember the pain of childbirth or you'd never do it again. I know that's true with kidney stones. I've had them more than once and always forget how bad it really is.

For me, it runs the opposite way too. In the pit, theres no seeing outside of it. No remembering what it feels like not to be in it. Thats why it gets so hopeless I guess.

Muff, what you said makes alot of sense to me. The part of the "pit" that I never fully remember once it's past, is how precarious the situation was when I was there. I foget how truly close I've come to the edge. Last time was about 13 months ago, and I'm slipping back down right now. Crying my own tears, over my own pain and thoughts and events -- instead of cause of, or for, someone else. It's overwhelming. The part I hate the most is being able to sense when the back-sliding starts -- so scary. Like sense it apart from regular downturn. Like sad plus doom, or something. It was nice to read your caring words for everyone :') I'm glad you're in a good place.

Good for you Muffy,
I like being out of the pit too and I'm trying hard to get out. I'm getting there but there's just too many variables going on in my life right now.
Things are good between my T and me, that helps me stay balanced when things at home are more than I can take.
I'm proud of how strong you are and how hard you work at getting out of the pit.

Thanks muffled,
that's SO true.

I'm thankful that the pit no longer calls my name. That I've found a little ledge just over the edge of the pit, so that even when it pulls and drags me, I'll be able to keep my toes on that ledge until I get the strength to pull myself out AGAIN.

There are different laws of human behavior and physics that govern the pit. That's why it's SO hard to understand it or even remember it sometimes.

But we know it's there.
