Let's play Pdoc Mix and Match Game!!!

Posted by gardenergirl on October 5, 2006, at 12:09:20

Match the unhelpful, disdainful, and/or dismissive remarks with the client's question or concern. Mix and match! Wheee! Have fun!

1. It’s probably the anxiety.
2. That’s a psychotic symptom of depression.
3. You’re probably just still stressed because of the deaths in your family.
4. That can’t be because of the medication.
5. Wear a watch.
6. He’s probably gay.
7. You’re acting like a child.
8. You’ll be back next year crying your crocodile tears.
9. You need to stop navel-gazing.
10. Just go back to sleep.
11. Have sex instead of eating chocolate.
12. I’m not going to make any changes to your medications until you graduate.

A. I don't feel desired.
B. I wake up in the middle of the night. I'm not getting enough rest.
C. I have atypical depression.
D. I’m still struggling with this task.
E. I'd like to review the treatment plan.
F. I'm bingeing now, and I never used to.
G. I'm having trouble with word substitution and word-finding. It seems worse than usual.
H. I'm worried the medication is not having the same effect as it once did.
I. I've been much more distracted recently, and I can't seem to get anything done.
J. I've had diarrhea for the last two weeks.
K. I've noticed this odd sensation in the back of my skull.
L. I've tried all kinds of tricks, but I still lose track of time quite a lot.

PS: I fired her Monday. (nm)

I am soooo glad to hear you fired her! Even just one of those answers would have been cause to consider firing her, but *all* of them???? Good grief!

(((((gg)))))

I'm sorry you've had to deal with her. I hope you find a great new pdoc in short order. Do you have recommendations from your T or someone you trust?

Good luck, take care, and lots of hugs,
Laurie

P.S. Instead of eating the chocolate are you supposed to have sex with the gay guy? ;)

You should definitely eat the chocolate and avoid having sex with the gay guy. Trust me. I speak from experience.

Hi GG,

I'm only getting Bs in my classes this semester so I don't feel smart enough to take your quiz. I'm taking the chance that it's trick questions and the real answer to all questions is *expdoc is an idiot.*

Am I right? I so need an A in something.

I am so glad you fired that pdoc.

*Just go back to sleep?* Yeah, that's something I know is taught in every medical school as a response to insomnia and sleep problems, she said sarcastically. Well, maybe at the one that forced me to quit my job and caused my last major depression. Hmm, where did she graduate from?

Wow gg, this must be the month of bad pdocs/Ts! I'm sorry she is so unhelpful, and good for you for firing her! Shes obviously not too bright or competent. I hope your next pdoc is much better for you.

She sounds pathetic!!! She shouldn't be in the helping profession since she doesn't seem to have any empathy what so ever!

I'm such a dweeb, I had to actually complete the assigned task.

She is...well...I would be wasting a lot of asteriks on her if I complete that. I'm very glad she is banished from your life. You deserve a LOT better.

Did I miss something-- and where is it?-- or is this sudden?

I'm glad you fired her, if she's been causing you to feel not-good--

that's a tough thing to do though. How do you feel, now that you've done it?

Yeah, I somehow walked into her office as an adult and left feeling like a child each time. Took awhile nad some repetition from wise folks, but I finally figured it out.

Thanks. As a matter of fact, my T did refer me to someone. I know of this doc, and I can see him for free while I'm a student. Stars are aligned, I think.

LOL, it's hard to say. I do think combining options offers the best wholistic treatment, though. ;)

An actual med school and everything. Perhaps she was sick on the day they taught how to form an alliance with your client.

Thanks, me too. I don't know her reaction, though, because I cancelled my appt. this week and said I wouldn't be rescheduling to the receptionist. I called today and left a message for her to call me, though. Funny, I have some questions for her. Plus, I want to get my records.

I think she earned her "B.A." (bad attitude) from the school of Can't Contain my Disdain.

Extra points for incorporating Freud. :)

My current favorite is

J. I've had diarrhea for the last two weeks

along with

2. That’s a psychotic symptom of depression.

Although 10. Just go back to sleep could be amusing though messy.

Thanks for the giggles.

Hi,
Yeah, I haven't talked about her much. It feels good to have the little-girl sunglasses off now. Things look so much clearer and brighter. I feel good for making the decision, but I've also been obsessing about this stuff all week. I keep having these imagined conversations/confrontations in my head with her. Normally, I'd agree with my T that there's really no need for "closure" and that trying to discuss this with her would be useless. But I think it might be the best way to just get it out of my head.

We'll see how it goes when/if she calls back tomorrow. Either way, I'm not planning to resume treatment with her again. But I just really want to know what the heck she was thinking, for one thing.
