I am so frickin happy right now!!! :-)

Posted by happyflower on June 22, 2006, at 21:37:48

I did my group presentation for my class today, and we got a 99%, which gave me enough points for an A+! My first ever A+ EVER, and I thought I would have trouble since it has been over 18 years since I attended college.
Plus I had to get up in front of people and talk, I was nervous but I did okay. I can't wait to tell my T !
My whole life I never applied myself to my school work. I knew I could be a good student, but nobody in my life like my parents never cared about my grades, as long as I passed, that all that mattered I guess. My teacher always said that I am capable of so much more, and a few really got on me about that. But I didn't care because it didn't matter to me.
Well now I did if for myself and I did it, because I care! I don't mean to sound full of myself, but this is the first time in my life I think I feel proud of what I have done. I guess I am still on cloud nine, because it still seems unreal to me.
Well there are a lot of posts I want to reply to, but I need to get to bed, so I will reply tomorrow. I just wanted to yell it to the Babble World! LOL Love you all.

HappyFlower, that's an amazing mark. It's so nice to hear good news. It's like being able to exhale.
You have a right to be proud of yourself.

Congrats, Elaine

Aww!
HappyFlower, so proud of you :)
You've got the right combination to do well in school:

Hard-working, because you're self-motivated & the Talent to excel. I'm so happy your Profs recognize how special you are!

I've been in school for hmm over 20 years now? I've only gotten a handful of A+. That's a really impressive accomplishment- you can be in my presentation group anytime!

congrats again,
-ll

Hi llrrrpp,

Thanks ! You know what was funny was that I was one of the only people to actually know what I was saying without having to "read" everything to everyone. Some didn't even know what they were reading. Well it did teach me that teachers shouldn't "read" to students unless it is a storybook or something like that.

What area of studies are you in? I am thinking of majoring in Psych. Next fall I plan on taking Intro into commputing (since I am so old and don't know a think about the new stuff), and Adolescent and Child Development. I can only handle part time since I am a mom too.

Thanks again for you support! Another question if you don't mind, what does your posting name mean? ;-)

Hi Elaine,

Wow! Thanks so much for supporting me right now, even though you are going through so much stress and stuff right now. You are a sweety! ;-) By the way, I think you are doing the right thing, by seeing a new T this Wed. I hope it will give you some answers you seem to need right now. Good luck, and keep in touch.

I study children's cognitive development and how it relates to their brain. The fancy word, when I want someone to think of me as obnoxious and arrogant is "Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience".

I think you'll have a good time in the Dev. Psychology classes. I enjoy this subject because it poses so many exciting questions (I'm a nerd, *I* find them exciting!) Here are 3 that will probably be covered in most intro courses in child development.

1)For instance - are human minds similar because we share similar genes, or because we grow up in an environment that is regular (i.e. we all experience gravity, we all experience light... etc) and
2)cognitive development - what is it about young children's minds that make them such fantastic learners? Why can't adults learn things with such facility?
3)What forces shape a child's personality and temperament- to what extent are these attributes malleable vs. fixed? Do children of different temperaments experience the world in the same way?

> Thanks again for you support! Another question if you don't mind, what does your posting name mean? ;-)

You're most welcome for my support- anytime I'm in a place where I can help, I try :)

My name is an acronym l.l.r.r.r.p.p. for a nickname that a loved one gave me. This particular person named me this when I was just a wee one.

l.lapiderroodyroodyrexlapexlapoo

:) Noone remembers it but me. It's special to me, kind of like a special code for love. Before I was on babble, I never shared it with anyone. Now it's kind of public, but that's okay. Sharing love is a good thing.

feel free to call me lurp or lrp or whatever. It's the spirit of the name that matters. silliness, lurspieburpsie- it's of no consequence!

happy weekend HappyFlower
yours,
-ll
