Well, now I really am redfaced

Posted by Dinah on June 21, 2006, at 21:57:58

My therapist's job fell through and as of now he'll be available. Not to say he won't find another of course. But he won't have known about it while we were making our decision. And he might even remember to tell me about it!

You know, it's funny. There is controversy about my calling him a bad name. But that's not the part I worry about. In fact, I called him that name to his face. I do feel really bad about talking about him. I guess he knows I do it. I've brought in posts where I do it. But maybe it isn't right for me to say so much of what goes on in therapy, in what is probably a slightly twisted way (because points of view generally are a bit twisty), and making him look bad.

And he's not really all that bad. He just sounds that way in my posts.

And I really feel bad about that.

You know, I didn't leave a message tonight. I just called to listen to his voice message because I was upset. And he still called me back to see if I was ok.

It really isn't him. It's Katrina that's bad.

I think that talking about stuff from therapy can be a good way to get validation for your feelings and reactions. We've seen in some cases, it can be very educational for both the person doing the talking and those reading.

Frankly, it doesn't matter what he thinks. His feelings about it do not matter to your therapy. That's his business.

In my opinion, of course. Which I've been freely tossing about recently.

I think that everyone has faults, and sometimes your therapist's faults seems to show more than others. This happens with every single person in the world, though. It was really nice of him to call you, and I think it shows how much you do mean to him. I'm glad that you seem to be feeling better about your decision to stay. And I agree that Katrina is bad. It sounds like things are a little bit better for you at the moment, and I'm happy for you.

You don't need to be red faced. You were expressing how you felt and you leaned on us some and thats great.
You are only human, and so are we, and so is your T.
Glad things are going better some.

Maybe it's guilt, or maybe it's OCD. He *does* know I talk about him, and he seems ok with that. I just worry that somehow it will cause me to lose him.

I hate to post and run, but I need to take a break for a couple of days.

That project isn't going to do itself and self control doesn't seem to be working, so I'm putting myself on Babble restriction.

See you in a couple of days. So short of time that it's weird even announcing it. :) Just don't want you to think I'm rudely not answering.

I completely understand. I just wish you could take an enjoyable break from life right now. You and your husband and son need to go to a wonderful beach resort where drinks are served with fruited-flower straws, beachside of course. And flip-flops are the only shoes allowed. You deserve a 5 star vacation.

Oh, can I come too? I can be the family photographer/valet.

Hi Dinah,

It's okay to post and run, just don't run away from us.

I think it's your T who should be redfaced, if only from the many cyber slaps I've sent him for you.

I'm glad his job fell through (okay some of that is bitterness due to my jobs constantly falling through) but more of it is because you need him to be available to you and now he can be.

I'm proud of you for calling him that name to his face. It was honest and let out some anger. You didn't keep it inside. Good for you.

Sounds wonderful and we'd love to have you!

Actually our vacation this year is going to be fixing up the house a little. I'm going to try tools for the first time! Well, ok, that's not quite true. But I'm going to master them for the first time. :)

And to his credit, he was sort of happy I called him that name too. :) He's always trying to get me to *be* angry.

I'm still not sure how I feel about seeing him more often. It doesn't feel safe.

But I can also see how helpful regular therapy has been by seeing how badly I'm keeping up with life right now.
