Oh, LA LA!!!! ;-) yes, he is in very good shape because I see that hot body all the time at the gym. It is the longest I have ever stayed with my exercise program and I have lost at least 20lbs too. He helps me in all kinda of ways! LOL But sometimes I have to wait for him to finish running before I get on the track because I am in a lot worse shape than him. LOL

It was kinda funny in my last session he was telling how bad his chest looked and all that, and I am like you are way too self critical of yourself. LOL I told him he had nice calves and nice legs. Damn! Who is the therapist in the room! LOL

My CBT therapist was pretty overweight and about 58 years old. Thing is... He'd just quit smoking and was chewing Nicorette gum like mad.

I don't think it made any difference in the therapy he did, but I kept thinking, “If you were really good at this CBT stuff, wouldn't you have quit smoking a long time ago??”

I have had such a laugh reading this thread..

I have just recently been asking myself the same questions... If my T is so good at CBT herself, why is sh such a large woman.???

If I didn't know any better i'd say she was happy with her weight, but I do know better.

once when I mentioned how I would feel uncomfortable in my swimming costume if I WENT SWIMMING , AND SHE KINDA MUTTERED THAT ,"YOU'LLL FEEL JUST LIKE THE REST OF US THEN"

She is not overly obese, but very noticeably a large woman. so i agree how come she cant use this schema focused therapy on herself? Maybe it's that altruistic thing that i think most therapist in this field have going on. They focus their energy on helping others, to avoid looking AT THEMSELVES. .. the poor things, are probably in just as much need of a good therapist as us...

every time I go to a board it just gives me another list of boards. then suddenly i see a thread with todays date.

Thats what i'm looking for recent up to date chats. So, can anyone explain it in terms of a child, thats me i'm simple and need plain intrauctions, otherwise i'm going to get more frustrated than before , if i cant find todays threads.

I guess like everything else it takes time to learn how to find my way around - but does anyone agree, that its crazy trying to find you guys?? or is it just me !!

Hey Happy Wildflower,

You may want to consider that many large people may be "overweight" by society's standards, but are actually the exact, precise, perfect weight for their bodies and genes. So even people who seem clinically obese are absolutely healthy - for them to lose weight would be wrong for their body type or metabolism.

We live in a world where to be "thin" (and that's a very arbitrary and subjective term) is to be healthy but a good deal of research has shown that many "overweight" (another subjective term) people are much healthier than those who are "thin."

It sucks when you're healthy and happy with your size but because you don't fit in with what the popular media says is "healthy," people automatically assume you've got a weight problem. Your therapist may be a perfectly capable CBT therapist - she doesn't need to apply it to her own life because there is nothing about her eating habits or weight she needs or wants to change!

Hi poet --i think I got muddled up when i was trying to reply to your post---

I was actually replying to your post on the question, is my therapist able to use the sanme CBT techniques on herself?, when i was told off by another poster. Who said maybe my T likes being the size she is.

I was just saying i had been thinkin the same thing, why dont they use cbt on themselves in these areas..? I thought is was a good question you asked poet.

I wasn't telling anyone off - just offering a different way to look at your therapist's situation. No need to get so defensive about it.

Hello Vero and fairy -- how are we today?

Still suffering from the love inside... How kind of you to make a comment like that about when did we get a happywild flower in addition to your happy flower.

Do you think you own the board? Do you think you have the right to say what people call themselves? What business of yours is it ?

If you took the time to read the new babies board you would both know i am new. Thank you for making me feel so wellcome..

I guess you were never a new member... you must have just come with the website... something dr bob lets hang around to test the members...

Do i look bothered if you dont like my name?

You both sound to me like really lovely people the kind I'm always happy to see the back of.

And if you dont like have a happywildflower on the site then you know what to do... take a hike!

(((((p.s. anyone else reading this i hopec an see how ignorant these poeple have deliberately been to me as a new member of this site. i came for support and some company.)))

But there's the old saying better to be alone than in bad company-------I hope Vero and Fairy are both very happy with yourselves, you should be very proud of how good you are at the art of hospitality and making new members feel welcome...

I have to say I feel all warm inside , from the love....and i can';t hardly contain the excitment of waiting for the next installment from 'vero fairy' welcoming committy.. it's just peachy of you to go out of your way like that!!!

Hello Happywildflower.

I'm Dinah, acting as deputy for Dr. Bob.

Please don't post anything that could lead others to feel accused or put down, and please be sensitive to their feelings even if yours are hurt.

If you or others have questions about this or about posting policies in general, or are interested in alternative ways of expressing yourself, please see the FAQ:

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#civil

The FAQ also has information on deputies for Dr. Bob.

Follow-ups regarding these issues should be redirected to Psycho-Babble Administration. They, as well as replies to the above posts, should of course themselves be civil.

I understand you're new here, but you might want to review the FAQ and perhaps look over the archives to get a feel for Dr. Bob's rules.

Thanks,

Dinah

It's all very well of you to say this Dinah, but the cookie crumbles both ways..

I am not the one here who has ganged up on a new member.

I am not the one who has said " when did we gat this happywildflower anyway"

I am not the one who is not being civil.. I am being very civil...under the circunstances.

I am in the UK. and maybe we have a different way of dealing with hurt.

I was hurt by what this fairy had to say... I am not here to be ganged up on or hurt...

so if you are the deputy around here, i might ask you to keep the peace all round and not just on your side of the pond...why not deputy the message fairy sent to verocity saying they were not sure when they got a happywildflower anyway, and what happened to their sweet happpyflower.

Do you not think that upset me???

Do you not think they were being uncivil towards me??

I have sent a message of compalint to the appropriate people. If this is the best you all can do to make a new member feel supported then there is obviously nothing here for someone like me....

.... and i am very disappointed...and would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who did treat me well, you will know who you are. so, T*H*A*N*KS*

I will not sit down and be steam rolled over by anyone dinah, not fairy , vero or anyone.

If they want a sweet flower to pick on, then they have picked on the wrong flower.

i am a happy wild flower and like if said if someone has a problem with that , i suggest they stay away from me. that is what i meant when i said take a hike.

... I will however offer an apology for the misunderstanding my words seem to have caused ... -- obviously we dont share the same humour. I apologise! But I will not apologise for who I am and thats a HAPPYWILDFLOWER. end of story.......

SINCERELY
HAPPYWILDFLOWER

> I am not the one here who has ganged up on a new member.

I realize that it's hard to get used to the civility guidelines here. And I understand that you felt hurt by what others have said. However, it is still not considered allowable under the civility guidelines to comment negatively on the behavior of other posters. It is acceptable to make "I" statements such as "I felt hurt when I read the question about Happywildflower and Happyflower." but it isn't allowable to make statements about another poster, even if preceded by "I". So that "I feel that (followed by a statement about another poster)" is still not allowable.

Ordinarily, the policy is that a person is blocked from posting for a week after they have continued do something that they have been warned not to do. However, since you apologized, and since it *is* difficult to get used to this system, I'm going to instead ask that you rephrase your reply using "I" statements and refraining from commenting negatively on other posters or their behavior.

It was my reading that the other posters were not being uncivil under site guidelines. The original statement about overweight therapists appeared to be an alternative opinion, stated as such, and not uncivil under site guidelines. And the comment about Happywildflower and Happyflower is a common enough statement on Babble when two posting names appear similar enough that people get confused. I don't think there was any ill intent. However I do understand that you felt hurt.

Dr. Bob reviews all deputy actions, and if he feels differently he can adjust accordingly.

It might be worth reviewing the FAQ about I statements.

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#civil

Follow-ups regarding these issues should be redirected to Psycho-Babble Administration. They, as well as replies to the above posts, should of course themselves be civil.

Sorry HWF felt ganged up on. When I said I agreed. I was saying I agree that some ppl are just fine with whatever size they are.

The question about HWF as opposed to HF is bec. I didn't know there was a HWF - usually when someone is new there's a green sign next to their name. AND Happyflower and I are close friends - outside of babble. She always tries to make everyone feel good, so I like to to tell her how sweet she is.

No harm or malice was intended.
