Bowties

Posted by fallsfall on December 1, 2005, at 20:34:41

He wore a bowtie on Monday, and had one on today, too! I was really happy about that (and trying to stall talking about what I needed to talk about) so I said "Bowties twice in one week!" He said "How do you know it has only been twice?" (Since I didn't see him Tues or Wed).

I told him that when I first started seeing him that he wore bowties at least once a week, but it seemed that lately he wasn't wearing them as much. He looked down to see his bowtie (which of course he couldn't do). He said that he likes to wear bowties in the winter, and regular ties in the summer. Now, I don't really understand that. I would think that regular ties would be "warmer", so those would be winter ties. Well, it could be that if he doesn't have a jacket on (which would be in the summer, except he usually wears a jacket even in the summer) he likes the look of a long tie better. I didn't ask him WHY he likes bowties in the winter better.

But the real question is: What will he wear tomorrow? Bowtie or regular? I'm guessing that he DID wear a bowtie on Tues or Wed (or even both!!!), so maybe he has reached his bowtie quota. Or will he wear one for me? Or will he NOT wear one because he doesn't want to gratify me?

I wonder if he'll get up tomorrow and have a hard time deciding whether to wear a bowtie or not because it will "mean" something to me. Or will he think about me at all when he is choosing his tie?

Bets on what kind of tie he wears?

Hi Falls,

I bet my cyber money on a bowtie.

I wonder if he wears a different bowtie everyday? Or does he repeat, but make sure if he has a patient coming in more than once a week that he changes it? In any case he will wear one just for you.

I would think a regular tie is warmer, too. Bowties seem so summery, but then again men wear them for formal wear year round. Maybe he wears them in winter just to have people notice. Not that he would admit that. LOL.

My bets on the regular tie. I think we need variety in life. :)

Perhaps it is the shirts that dictate the tie and thus the season. I love the idea of a bow tie. My therapist doesn't wear ties, he is a sweater/turtleneck kind of guy. But this is CA after all.

Don't forget to let us know!

My bet is on the bow tie.

I think he’ll get up in the morning, look at his ties, pick up a bowtie, remember what you said, and consider the possibility that you will think he’s wearing it to gratify you. Then he’ll wonder whether he should wear a regular tie so that it doesn’t look as if he’s trying to gratify you. Then he’ll decide that he likes the bow tie and you like the bow tie and since you both like it he might as well wear it. But by the time your session starts he will have forgotten all about it unless you remind him. Do you think you’ll be able to ask him how he decided what kind of tie to wear?

Daisy wins!

He wore a medium blue shirt with wide white stripes and a darker blue long tie with thin white stripes.

I have no idea what pants, jacket, shoes, socks etc. he had one (Hey, I'm doing well to remember the shirt and tie!!).

I did not ask him how he decided what to wear. I didn't comment on his tie. I was a little disappointed (but not surprised) that he didn't wear a bowtie. There is always Monday.

hey!

I'm just a fashion queen -- remember. I think next we should consider what kind of shoes he wears. Is it the same pair usually, or different colors with different outfits?

Hmmm, I should pay more attention to what my T wears. No bowties, ever, that I've seen. A Halloween tie this year, though.

I'll never forget the duck boots, though. Right out of LLbean. It was a very snowy day, though.

Just really cracked me up. I remember when those were so "in" when I was a teen, and how badly I wanted a pair, but never got them. Sigh.

:-D

I do wonder if your T spent some time thinking about what tie to wear. That's funny to think about. Hoping for a bowtie for Monday...

I think bowties are so awesome. In the 80's I used to wear them, I had a pink shiney one!

Did his socks match his tie? The true mark of a GQ man...

Socks??? Yes, he had socks on. They would be pretty loud if they matched his bowtie. I don't think that GQ men wear bowties...

Bowties sound so endearing, Falls. :)

Does he wear shiny, shiny shoes?

Mine had a briefcase for a while, that really didn't suit him, but now he uses a backpack like he used to. The briefcase must have been a gift.

Not patent leather shoes. Regular leather shoes, I think. "Dress" shoes. I hate shoes. So I don't notice them.

Blasphemy! Where do you look if not at the shoes? I had on my black boots today with tiny bows on the side.

Obviously you haven't been shoe shopping with the right person.

Obviously, I look at the throat (but actually, only when he comes out to get me. Once I'm sitting in his office I look either at his face or at the flowers or out the window or to the side of him or at my water bottle)

Back in my retail days, I applied for a job managing a shoe store. I decided not to take the job because I really can't care less about shoes.

Maybe someday I'll go shoe shopping with you...

Finally! An all bowtie week!!!!!!!!!

And no, I didn't say anything because that would tend to make him not want to wear them.
