disturbing article/T lost license ***trigger****

Posted by gardenergirl on August 28, 2005, at 16:01:18

I'm really not sure why I am posting this. It came in my inbox today from a list serve I belong to. The whole story just has me stirred up with a variety of emotions, including feeling a bit helpless. I suppose I also want to warn anyone who might be referred to this "man" for "treatment." The article is about a T who lost his license, what happened to lead to this, how the man is still practicing, and how the patient still has not had satisfaction.

Here is the URL:
http://www.cleveland.com/search/index.ssf?/base/news/1125221487299280.xml?nohio&coll=2

You will need to enter your zip code, year of birth, and gender (I assume for tracking demographics of readers) before you can access the article from the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

It definitely makes me want to put this man on the top of the TP list. Time to go to Sam's Club to stock up. Road trip, anyone?

Gardenergirl,
it's so so sad for the woman that's still suffering so much.
the hard thing is that trauma disorders are so difficult to get over because they change who we are.
How do you recompense that woman who suffers so much, has altered her appearance and won't wear normal clothes, can't have a relationship of sharing loving touch with anyone?

there is no way.

It's really sad that she went back to him for help after the family member's suicide.

i can't understand why the rape charge wouldn't stick because clearly he took advantage of a person who had serious psych problems- she had very serious eating disorder. It wasn't an equal relationship.

sad and very unfair.

gg,

I'm glad you posted this. Although it's sickening and infuriating, ignorance is NOT bliss and I would rather be aware. Just in case, one day, I run into *anything* similar, maybe I'll be better equipped to help, to report a person, to support anyone suffering at the hands of an alleged *therapist* (hardly!) like this. So thank you for bringing awareness of how truth can be more awful than fiction.

Frankly, I'm far too disgusted and outraged to write intelligent, caring comments (like kerria's) about this case right now. But I will say what immediately came to mind out of my personal, religious beliefs.

That is, that this cruel and selfish man WILL receive, to lift a quote from the article, "an unerring understanding of 'the way things are.' " on the day God judges him for how he chose to live his life.

IMO, he's engaged in a particularly heinous type of sin, and God will grant him his just reward for that brand of repeated wickedness. Evil without (sincere) remorse never goes unnoticed by the Almighty.

I know others don't believe as I do. I also know this does little if anything, for the poor victim, or anyone else, in the here and now. But it comforts me by virtue of the fact that what he will have coming to him from God will be worse than anything any of us could imagine in our worse nightmares. As well it should be.

Sorry if I've said anything wrong here...I'm fairly enraged....

GG -

Thanks for posting the article. Unbelievable how criminals slip through the cracks of our legal system. I can only hope that the woman in under the care of a therapist like ours.

I suggest we stand on the sidewalk outside his office carrying large signs with the article on them.

An 18 year old boy who has consentual sex with a 16 year old girl goes to jail and is a registered sex offender. This *therapist* can just change his job title and carry on business as usual.

I pray that they find a way to nail him and he pays for the damage he has done to this woman and everybody else who is still afraid to come forward.

I agree with everyone.

It's such a damned shame, it's hard to know what to say, isn't it?

My heart goes out to the client in the story, and I pray she is finding some relief.

So sad that someone so vulnerable was taken advantage of, and has had her life ruined. She'll never be able to trust again.

If the story's true then the guy's a sociopath and there's quite a few out there; he'll find a way to hurt people his whole life. And he'll never feel bad about it.
