confused

Hi,
I have kind of an embarrassing question to ask.Have any of you developed feelings for your psychiatrists or therapists? It is almost an obsession with me.I am constantly thinking about them.My mind is always wondering to what they might be doing at any given time, what their lives are like outside of the therapy setting, ect.I'm starting to have feelings for them both and am really confused about the whole thing.Any advice???

It is highly common, and very normal. Try to look up in this board's archives.. Look up for "transference" or "in love with therapist" etc.

But just because it is common, doens't invalidate the feelings for you. You still have to take the whole trip by yourself.

Don't underestimate the feelings, and don't feel guilty or think you are the one to be blamed. But read about it and that might be a good start.

Oh I know how you feel. I've think about my T. all the time. I wonder what she's doing too. It is pretty normal. I agree with pinkeye, look up those topics in the search menu and read what you can. You will learn a lot. And this is a great way to see how normal your thoughts are.

Thanks for all of the advice! I was thinking that I had some sort of new problem because of my feelings. Its good to know there are others out there who feel the same way!
Have a good evening all,
Amy

Oh boy, do I relate to that. I know it might seem a little overwhelming/preoccupying, but it's definitely normal-(all part of that freakin' transference). The good new is, if you stay long enough, you work it through, and it's maybe not so uncomfortable
