Do you want to recommend your therapist?

Posted by pantt on September 4, 2004, at 18:53:04

The DBSA has a service for people to anonymously recommend therapists and psychiatrists

I think it's a really great idea to get an inside view of therapists since it's soooo hard to weed out the bad ones without spending a lot of time and money.

No way would I recommend mine. It would just make it that much harder to get in when I need to!! She's my little secret.

Cool! I sure would. I like to contribute as much as I can to making his private practice secure. For totally selfish reasons.

I went to try to review some previous therapists I had while living in the US, but none of them were there. Obviously they quit after having me as a patient...(haha)

Seriously though, too bad that they don't have something like this for Europe. I would love to recommend my T. I love thinking that he could help other people as much as he has helped me. Even though I am mad at him right now. :P

I'm with Skittles, I wouldn't want to make it any harder to get in to see him. His practice seems to be well booked, so I'm not worried that he'll starve.

Mine only sees college students at the University where he works. I suppose it wouldn't hurt, but I am feeling selfish right now.

I would not recommend mine as she has a mean streak. Yet once you get passed that [if you can hold on long enough] she is an excellent therapist. terrics

But that's exactly the kind of info a person would want to know!! I don't think I could go with a therapist that had a mean streak. You're a pretty accomodating patient!

My therapist isn't taking anymore patients. He even took his name out of the phone book so I guess I won't put him on the list. And my opinion kind of varies with my state of mind and therapy anyway. I wouldn't recommend him to someone I knew but I don't think I'd mind giving his name to total strangers. I may go and put a psychopharmacologist I saw as a consult on the list because I thought he was pretty good.

I just don't know what to say about him

The ways he's good are rather intangible.
