Wasn't today the day you may have some answers?

Thinking of you.

I have an appointment with my med doc on Thursday. I know I'm beyond her, but at least she can get me on new meds.

The EAP called back and emailed me a list of pdocs. My brain kicked in long enough to call my husband's EAP to get a list of their pdocs, since we'll both have to get on his employer's insurance soon.

There are only two pdocs on both lists, one of which is close to my house and my T's office. Hope I can get into see him. I left a message for my T. Yesterday, she threatened to call 911 on me, so I hope I didn't sound too messed up.

More later. Keep your finger's crossed pdoc is accepting new patients.

Pdoc appointment Friday

Pdoc squeezed me in on Friday morning, so I cancelled the appointment with med doc.

My therapist will talk to him before I see him, if I give her written permission. I thought that was a good idea, but now I'm getting scared. Do I really want him to know my secrets before he's met me? On the other hand, I have trouble talking and certain things I refuse to talk about, so it might be better?

I have to get my permission note to my T tomorrow, so she has time to reach him. I don't see her until Thursday afternoon, so that'll be too late.

I really can't make decisions right now, what would you do? Anybody done a first pdoc visit this way?

Thanks so much.

Since I trust my therapist (I guess), I'd let him talk to the pdoc. Especially if he was as concerned about me as your therapist is.

Can you ask your therapist what she intends to say? I think that is pretty reasonable.

I have to call her tomorrow morning and find out what I need to say in the permission note. I'll ask her to be specific about what she intends to tell him.

More tomorrow.

I agree with Dinah. I've been in that situation, and I did give my T permission to talk to the pdoc ahead of time. But we also had time to talk about what he was going to say. And I rehearsed with him what I was going to say to her, too. Because I wanted to explain some things myself, and not have them come from my T. It sounds like you won't have time to work it all out like that. But in my experience, it was helpful for them to be talking together.

I agree with everyone else. If you trust your Therapist, let them talk. It is important to be honest about what is going on, especially where meds are involved.

Please keep hanging in and hanging on. Making your Therapist think about 911 tells me you are having a tough, tough time. Wish i could help. We are here if you want to post more, even just to feel our support. But I know how taxing that can be too...

Sending you a warm, wrap it around your whole self and stay safe, hug.

my thoughts

I do not have a pdoc, Poet, but I think that if one were recommended, I'd let my therapist talk to him or her. That way, when you see the pdoc, you can hit the ground running. You have had to wait so long that I think it would be best to make up for lost time.

Good luck!

I talked to my T. She thinks that I will be okay talking to pdoc. We talked about what I should say. I'm going to write it down and we'll go over it tomorrow.

She said it's okay to hand it to him to read. That would be so much easier as writing comes natural. She said he wouldn't think it's strange, but I'm strange anyway, so what difference does it make?

I'll post Friday afternoon.
