Cutting back on Babble

Posted by fallsfall on May 13, 2004, at 11:14:05

I'm finding that I am cutting back on my Babble involvement. I stopped reading Admin a while ago. These days I find that I'm not reading all of the posts on Psychological or Social. And I am responding less to those that I am reading.

I'm not quite sure why this is changing for me right now, but I would bet that my therapist thinks that it is a good thing. There are a number of possibilities -

1. My youngest has been giving me a really hard time about getting to school on time. Her dad and I have laid down the law. She must stay with me on school nights, and I will do whatever I have to to get her to school on time. This whole thing is really stressful. (Her principal told me that he thinks she needs counselling, so I'm trying to figure out how to talk her into that, too)

2. My oldest came back from France and was here for only 3 days. Before she came I tried to get some cleaning done (she is allergic to dust and dog hair). None of her friends were around, so when she was looking for company she called me! This was great (I really like her company) and stressful (she has much more energy than I do).

3. Med changes. I've dropped Strattera. I also stopped taking Ativan at bed time. I think that this means that I don't release tension from my muscles at night anymore - so my arms and legs and back have been very stiff and painful. I am trying to consciously relax all day. I also inadverently dropped my blood pressure and thyroid meds for some number of days (I know, my therapist wouldn't agree with the "inadvertently" part).

4. Progress (dare I say it??) in therapy has me looking more outward and forward than I have been.

I wanted to say that Babble has been critically important to me in the past (and will be so again in the future). I really do think this is a special group of people.

So, if I don't answer your post, please know that it doesn't mean that I don't like you or that I don't care. If you want me to read a particular post, either email me the URL (babble fallsfall - a hotmail account) or put my name in the subject - it will be a long time before I stop checking the boards! I also do love to get email (either URLs or just regular email)...

...Now where did I put that ice cream??

It sounds as if you're doing well, Falls. That's my favorite reason to hear about why people won't be posting much. :)

Take care of yourself, falls. You've given so much to us here. I'm glad to hear you're looking outward a bit more. I hope you'll still drop in from time to time.

Falls,
I'll miss you on Babble, but I understand. I'm kind of in the same place myself as I read most, but don't always have time to respond. I'll miss hearing from you on Babble. Drop me an email or catch me IM'ing from time to time if you have the time.

Take care,

gg

I'll miss you, but I understand why you need to leave babble for awhile.

I hope you come back soon. I'll have a giant bowl of chocolate chocolate chip ice cream ready for you.

thank you again for being there when i needed people most of all. i wish you nothing but happiness, success, and progress, and i'm glad to hear you're getting there.

i've found yoga does wonders for relieving muscle tension. if you just want a book on it, feel free to email me and i'll mail it to you. (i just listed it on half.com to sell, but i don't really care if i get anything for it. i just have no use for it any more.) ghost at captainscience dot net

and feel free to email if you just want to email-- i too love to get letters.

most of all, take care of yourself.

much love,
ghost

ghost,
I have been doing yoga too. Today, I felt like I needed to go through my routine twice, because I really needed something to feel in control of my body. Yoga's really good for that. Even though I am overweight, I feel beautiful when I am doing the poses. And the breathing...really helps.

Take care!

i agree-- i feel beautiful and graceful in the positions... even though i am far from it irl. but i'm sure that you're just as beautiful and graceful. and when we carry yoga into our daily lives, we carry that natural grace and beauty as well.

i'm glad someoen else understands!!!

*hugs*

(((falls))),

I'll miss seeing your name around as much, but I'm really happy for you that you're making progress and feeling well.

If you need us, though, just know that we'll be here for you faster than you can say mint chocolate chip with hot fudge, marshmallow (instead of whipped cream) and nuts (and we'll have plenty of hugs to top it off).

Take care,
All Done

Thanks for all your good wishes.

I will be reading some, and posting when I feel like I have something to add. And I'm sure I'll have a new crisis soon, and you'll see my name all over the place!

Best wishes for all of you.

P.S. Alldone - How sweet of you to remember all of my favorite things!
