Psychology misleads the mentally ill

Posted by LostBoyinNC1 on June 14, 2002, at 22:42:07

There is no relationship whatsoever between psychology and serious mental illness. Mental ilness like major depression, manic depression and schizophrenia are BRAIN diseases. Neurological disorders of the brain. Psychology is a social science, hardly scientific and it has little to no real world bearing on severe mental illness. The relationship between psychology and severe mental illness is a highly fallicious relationship.

If you would like real lasting relief from your mental illness, lobby to have your treatment taken over in the future by Neurology and get it totally out of the hands of the "mental health" profession, which is heavily steeped in psychology bullshit. Lobby for lots more money spent on high tech, neurology oriented mental illness research.

Psychology is a very poor replacement for our society's poor understanding of the human brain and CNS.

Please don't overgeneralize.

Or use language that might offend others. And discussion about lobbying should be redirected to Psycho-Social-Babble. Thanks,

Bob

While I totally understand the anger that fuels your statement and all the reasons..(yes Its almost insane how focused certain areas of psychiatry are on behaviours, and hence the blame is put on the individual) its not that simple..

don't forget that many illnesses are reactive to external events and this can be due to the posession within an individual of thinking processes which are not helpfull to him or his environment..with the resultant negative feedback reducing their options, interactions, resources etc..

Plain old "death" and adversity are major culprits too.

Heres hoping brain scanning hits your local maplin real soon....
