Another one of my cats

Posted by Elle2021 on November 10, 2003, at 21:35:22

I just lost a baby cat of mine when it was hit by a car not long ago (2 weeks). Now, I had to take my other baby kitty, Zoie, to the vet. She has fluid around her heart, and it may be worse. The vet is running some tests. I'm scared. I can't take losing two of my loves in such a short time. Please help.

Oh, that is just too much for one time. I do hope your little one will be ok. They're doing amazing things nowadays. I'll be sending good wishes towards you and the kitty.

Elle,

Don't worry about Zoie just yet. Give it some time .... it might be something that the vet can take care of. As my vet always says, stay positive for the cat's sake! Hopefully it will turn out okay.

My Harry has been so uncharacteristically crabby the last couple of days that I've been worried.

Could it be the change in the weather? I know that my Zoie gets lethargic and depressed when we switch from summer to winter. Maybe you should take her for a check up. Hope he is feeling better now. God bless you.

Zoie had to go in and get a biopsy on the fluid they removed from her heart. They are checking to see if it is cancerous. I'm praying it isn't. They also put her on some anti-biotics. That was a couple days ago. The vet was supposed to call as soon as she gets the test results back, but hasn't called yet. I really hope my little girl will be okay. Thank you both for all your support, you two have been such a help during this time. I can't explain how much I am grateful to you guys! God bless both of you and your kitties!
Love, Elle

A Kitty Story

This may help those of you who are worried about the strength and determination of your kits.

[I am a dog person, have three of 'em, and never went looking for a kitty.]

For about three days, some weeks ago, I heard meowing. I at first thought that my sweetheart had set his computer to "meow" when something happened (like a new email message).

Well, after asking about it, he and I went around the whole place with a flashlight trying to find out where a kitten could have gotten in. No luck. But, we still heard the quite insistent meowing. Oh---what to do?

So, one day I came home and the quite loud (by this time) meowing, was under the front deck. So, as I live in a manufactored home, I grabbed my brother-in-law across the street, and he showed me how to lift up the siding on the place. Well, once that was done, this gray kitten came running out, covered with cobwebs.

OMG, I thought, as my brother-in-law backed away...what to do. This was a tiny, about 3-week old kitten. OMG again. He was wobbly, hungry, and I am not sure how come he was left under the house. OMG.

Well, it turns out, my sweetheart has a lot of experience with kitties/cats. We/he fed him from a bottle. I went to Petsmart to find out (from the vet there) what to do. We bottle fed him, and estimated his age as 3 weeks when we found him. He was even younger before!

We took him to the vet and she pronounced him healthy. Whew! Now, he is 6 weeks old, we are torn up with scratches (looks like we are cutting) and he is one dang healthy kitty. He can get out of any room we put him in, has our 3 dogs a bit mesmerized/terrorized and I love him dearly.

He is a manx. The manx has quite an interesting story, so we named him Finn McCoole, which has a history regarding the Isle of Man, where the Manx comes from. My sweetie is still sleeping with him, so he has the person contact that he needs. We never saw a mama cat.

Anyways....he has brought our clan together, and my sweetheart has stopped talking about having a baby, for which I am ETERNALLY grateful.

That's sort of a quick rundown of events, so take heart.....cat's and kitten's seem to be able to withstand quite a bit!

xoxo
Shar

Finn McCoole is one lucky cat to end up trapped in the place he was trapped in. He's found a family and your sweetie has the little one he wanted to nurture.

Zoie has to have an ultrasound in December. She has something on her throat... Not a good sign.
I'm scared.

Elle,
having lost a beloved companion, I hope you will have only good news, and will be heartened by the results of the ultrasound.

As one who experiences fear/panic fairly regularly, just for g.p.'s it seems....we can just as well turn our minds and hearts toward hope and love.

It's hard for me to do, but maybe you can do it.

Best regards,
Shar

Thanks, Dinah.

I believe it's a miracle, or at least halfway between a miracle and a miraclette.

Thanks Shar,
Her ultrasound is on the 13th of December. I just keep praying that things are going to turn out well. She seems to be doing better, not being so sluggish. She's eating and moving around, which is a good sign!

Loved your Kitty Story, Shar. Looks like you saved a life and made a new friend as well (in spite of the scratches!). Have you named the little kitty? Congratulations to you and your new extended family!

I don't know what to say, Elle, except I hope that whatever may be wrong with Zoie can be fixed. I know all too well the almost insurmountable pain of losing two kitties a couple of months apart. It hurt terribly, and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Hopefully your luck won't be as bad. Best wishes, keep the faith, and keep posting so we know.

Oh no, I hope your kitty will be OK. We just found a huge cist on our cats neck. Its huge!!! Oh no, could it be cancer? We dont have any money to take him to the vet for atleast a couple of weeks since we are moving this week. I think I will try to cut it off myself. Ewww... but gotta do it.

How are things, Elle? I'm new here, so maybe I did not find out what happened with your kittie who was having the ultrasound.

I think that pets can be wonderful healers; I don't know if I could have survived some periods of my life without the presence of an intelligent and compassionate cat companion.

I hope that things are well with you and with your kitty.
