To lose my religion

Posted by VaporyDust on January 28, 2012, at 17:21:56

Once I was a member of the Christian religion, but I wanted out. They told me that once I was "saved" there was no way to take it back except to do what they called the "unpardonable sin."

I don't think I know what that is. Can somebody please post details of this ritual so I can perform it and be complete in my faith that I am no longer a Christian?

There is no one answer any more than there is one "Christian" belief on the matter.

I know of no ritual that must be taken. By my understanding, once you have rejected Jesus as your savior, you are no longer a Christian - by definition. I have no opinion on being "saved". I figure only God knows what God will do. The static state of being saved doesn't play a large role in my religion.

You are talking about one viewpoint of a segment of Christianity. If you no longer belong to this Christian sect, why do you care what they think? Is your concern for your faith in your condition? You would surely know that better than anyone else. Is your concern the rejection of a group of people? You can't really influence what other people believe. That's beyond your power.

I daresay you can google unforgivable sin if it's important to you. But if it's that important to you, is it possible you aren't as confirmed in your unbelief as you think? After all, a ritual to unsubscribe to a group only has meaning under the belief system of that group. If you don't believe, you have no need to perform any ritual.

Isn't that the sin against the Holy Spirit?

I never knew what that was.
