Inositol side effects

Posted by stann on November 10, 2011, at 17:21:35

I was on inositol for about a week at 500mg a day without many side effects. Then I upped it to 500mg twice a day. On the very day I took an extra 500mg I felt horrible. I had trouble with finding words and remembering names of places.I was very irritable, anxious, angry and depressed. I had derealization.Has anyone experienced this on inositol?Would appreciate some feed back on this.I was trying inositol to help with GAD.

Thanks.

I took inositol for a while ten years ago. In one of the studies I read about, people took 18 grams of inositol a day. So I bought some inositol powder and started taking 18 grams a day. All it did was give me gas.

I read a person should start at a low dose and titrate up slowly. I am sensitive to most natural and western psych meds. I had also started a multivitamine two weeks before the inositol. Perhaps that played a role in my response to inositol.I stopped both over a week ago though. I retried the inosotil the last two days. I had a hard time remembering again yesterday with more anxiety. Very strange!

It made me very irritable. I just took 500mg. I might try it again, as sometimes my reactions change over time. On paper, it looked great. I often have the opposite reaction to something that others do. Gotu Kola, for instance, is supposed to be great for stress but stresses me out!
