SAM-e side effects after stopping

Posted by ddown on April 29, 2010, at 11:09:34

I recently took 200mg SAM a day for about a week and then stopped due to lack of any benefit. A few days later I started waking at 2AM everynight which is unusual for me. This then progressed to A LOT of anxiety, heart palpitations, and difficulty sleeping. It has been almost two weeks since I stopped. Has anyone experienced this and how long did it take for the symptoms to resolve. I'm getting worried. I know that SAM-e tends to build up in your system when you take it, I guess it would take some time to leave your system as it is naturally recycled. Please comment if you have any info. Thanks

You may be one of those people who has adverse reactions to SAM-E. Did you tell your doctor about it? I think you should be okay as long as you don't take it anymore.

I have gone in and seen my doctor. He wants to give a few more weeks and says any side effects from SAM-e should be gone by then. He prescribed some Ambien in the meantime to help me sleep.

That's good. You should be okay soon.
