Has anyone read this book? It explains treating depression along with other mood disorders with supplements.

Yes.
I found the book "Natural Highs" by Hyla Cass to have some interesting info in it. Also, I've just ordered the book "The Mood Cure" from Half.com.
If you go on Amazon.com you can read reviews on this book as well as others. I do that before I buy one. I usually buy my books used off of alibris.com, ebay, half.com or amazon. I always look at the s/h charge to as I'm a thrifty soul!! I'm on disability so I have to be!
