Mix some inositol in your coffee. It flavors it too.

Cool. Coffee seems to be a mood brightener with me. I've yet to get my hands on some inositol through.

DO they not have it where you are?

Here, I can buy a bottle of 227 grams for like $25
which is like $20 american.

I add a gram or two so to coffee.

Sigh. Alternative supplements seem to be rather limited here in Finland. Plus even if they did have it, my Finnish isn't so good as to be able to actually read the instructions on the packet. Which is a big problem for me.... I haven't even been able to find SJW. But I'm seeing my (Finnish) pdoc tomorrow so I'll ask her.

It is something I would like to try through. I'll buy some in the UK. How much do you need? My multi provides 20mg, although that is no way near enough. I have this major problem taking even supplements. Man, I have even major problems *eating* let alone taking anything. Oh well. I'll waste away......

Inositol is a form of glucose I think. Anyhow it has a sweet taste, and can be put on anything.

Up to 16 grams/day have been used, in studies, though, it can have an effect in does much less than this.

I notice the effect of 1 gram.

I notice an effect with only a couple of grams, too. Almost didn't trust my own reaction to it, since all the studies used so freaking much. Problem is, it makes me kind of fuzzy and scattered even as it improves my mood. Makes sense to me that it worsened ADD symptoms in one clinical trial.

I've got quite a bit of the Jarrow Formulas stuff left, though, so I might come back to it someday. If I could take it at night, that might be perfect... but my sleep has been so spotty lately I don't want to risk it.

Both the above suppliers are reputable and sell Inositol insanely cheap.

When I trialled inositol on two ocaasions I used the 12gm dose. The first reaction was an intensification of all my emotions - both good and bad to the point where I felt like I was going mad with the energy.

Then after a few days it mellowed to a sort of buzz in the background. I was still hyper reactive to situations though. I like inositol - but at that range it gets to be a hassle and costly. I never felt much trying it at 1 gram.

I was thinking to try it again...

Hi Linkadge,

How would you describe the mood brightening? Is it a good mellow mood? Or is it a good energized mood? Would this be something that someone should do if they have anxiety? How long does a dose last?

Again, I've only taken smaller doses (stuck with 2.4 grams for a while), but, toned down (proportionally?) that describes me on inositol, too. One night I saw some slapstick bit on TV and felt a pronounced empathy for the victim, like I'd been punched in the gut myself.

I'm thinking to give it another try, too... if my upcoming trial of Ashwagandha doesn't pan out. I'd have to find a way to mitigate the scattered fuzziness is causes in me, though.

I tried Inositol approx 10 grams a day for 3 months. Made my anxiety much worse and the withdrawal was very nasty. It's a real shame because the limited amount of studies available regarding depression and panic attacks suggest it works well to combat these problems :(

The inositol seemed to take the edge off the fear inducing effects of caffiene.

It made the caffiene a little more mellow.

At bit more euphoria than caffiene alone. There was some caffine crash but it had less overtone. Less feeling of helplessness, and just a bit of a bla sensation.

All in all, I'd flavor my coffee with inositol whenever I decide to drink coffee.

Anxiety is such a broad spectrum term.

In high doses inositol seemed to make mental anxiety a wee bit worse, but made pysical anxiety, and sleep problems much better.

It interacts with 2a receptors? Anyhow, there may be a start up anxiety effect like with SSRI's.

Well, its just like how some anxiety responds to elevation of intracellular signalling cascades (ie antidepressant thereapy), and other anxiety responds to dampening of such signalling cascades, ie PKC inhibiting drugs like valproate.
